Role Purpose The Plant Head is accountable for the end-to-end performance of the HVDC transformer manufacturing facility, covering safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and customer satisfaction. The role leads the plant through the complexity of converter transformers and HVDC reactors, which involve very high voltages, large and heavy components, long project cycles, and stringent testing and customer acceptance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Operations and Delivery
• Own plant P&L;, budgets, capacity planning, and on-time delivery against committed project schedules.
• Drive production planning across core winding, insulation processing, assembly, vapour phase drying, tanking, oil filling, and testing.
• Ensure effective coordination with design/engineering, procurement, supply chain, project management, and the test lab.
• Manage bottlenecks in critical assets such as winding machines, VPD ovens, cranes, and the high-voltage test bay. Quality and Technical Excellence
• Ensure first-time-right manufacturing and zero major failures at factory acceptance and type/special tests (including DC and polarity-reversal tests, switching and lightning impulse, partial discharge, and heat run).
• Maintain strict cleanliness, moisture, and insulation-processing controls essential for HVDC insulation systems.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances and customer complaints.
• Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 compliance and readiness for customer and third-party audits. Health, Safety and Workplace (HSE)
• Build a zero-harm culture with particular focus on heavy lifting, working at height, high-voltage testing, hot work,

and confined spaces.
• Ensure statutory compliance and robust permit-to-work, incident investigation, and emergency preparedness systems.
• Drive environmental performance including oil handling, waste management, and energy efficiency. Cost, Productivity and Continuous Improvement
• Reduce manufacturing cost through lean, value engineering, yield improvement, and waste reduction.
• Optimise material usage and control rework, scrap, and warranty costs.
• Implement digitalisation and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including MES, production tracking, and predictive maintenance. Capacity and Capex Projects
• Plan and execute capacity expansion, technology upgrades, and capital investments with clear business cases.
• Oversee plant infrastructure, utilities, and maintenance reliability. People and Culture
• Lead, develop, and retain a multi-disciplinary team including production, quality, maintenance, planning, EHS, and HR.
• Build a strong talent pipeline for specialised roles through apprenticeships, technical partnerships, and succession planning.
• Foster employee engagement, industrial harmony, and good community relations, especially in a rural plant setting. Customer and Stakeholder Management
• Interface with key customers (utilities, grid operators,

EPC contractors) during inspections, witness tests, and escalations.
• Represent the plant to regulatory authorities, local administration, and the community. Qualifications and Experience Education
• B.
E./B.
Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)
• MBA or a Master's in Operations/Engineering preferred Experience
• 15 to 25 years in power transformer with at least 5 to 8 years in senior plant leadership
• Hands-on exposure to EHV transformers (400 kV and above); direct HVDC converter transformer experience strongly preferred
• Proven track record of running a large plant with P&L; responsibility and managing capacity ramp-ups 5. Skills and Competencies Technical
• Deep understanding of transformer manufacturing processes, insulation technology, and testing standards.
• Knowledge of HVDC technology, converter station requirements, and associated design challenges
• Strong command of lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and operational excellence tools
• Familiarity with ERP, MES, and data-driven decision making Leadership and Behavioural
• Strategic thinking with strong execution discipline
• Ability to lead large, diverse teams and build a high-performance culture
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including with senior customer and government representatives
• Resilience, integrity, and a safety-first mindset
