Company Description IIIT Dharwad is an Institute of National Importance, established in 2015 through a Public-Private Partnership among the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Government of Karnataka, and industry partner Keonics under an Act of Parliament. The Institute focuses on high-quality education and research in Information Technology and allied areas, offering BTech and PhD programs. It is a not-for-profit institution with a mission to bridge the skill gap in advanced IT domains and support India’s global leadership in technology. IIIT Dharwad operates from a spacious permanent campus of about 60 acres near Dharwad, providing a contemporary academic and research environment for scholars. Role Description The PhD role at IIIT Dharwad is a full-time, on-site position based at the Dharwad campus. Doctoral scholars are expected to conduct original research under the guidance of faculty supervisors, including literature surveys, problem definition, experimental or theoretical work, data analysis, and dissemination of results through publications and presentations. Day-to-day activities typically include working on research projects in information technology or related disciplines, participating in seminars and research group meetings, and collaborating with faculty and peers on funded projects. PhD scholars may also contribute to teaching and academic support activities, such as assisting in labs, tutorials, or mentoring undergraduate students,



while adhering to institute policies and academic standards. Qualifications
• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or closely related disciplines, typically with a relevant Master’s degree or an exceptional Bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated research aptitude, including ability to review scientific literature, formulate research problems, and design appropriate methodologies or experiments.
• Proficiency in core technical areas such as algorithms, data structures, programming, and one or more specialized domains (e.g., AI/ML, data science, networks, embedded systems, cybersecurity, or software engineering).
• Capability to analyze and interpret data using suitable tools, prepare technical reports and research papers, and present findings clearly to academic and industry audiences.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a professional academic environment.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently with integrity while meeting research milestones and institutional requirements.
• Prior research experience, publications, participation in projects or internships, and familiarity with modern research tools and programming environments are highly beneficial.
