• Own the front-end development approach, coding standards, component strategy, branching model, review practices and definition of done.
• Design scalable application architecture, component boundaries, routing, state management, data access and micro-frontend patterns where appropriate.
• Remain hands-on with implementation, code review, complex defect resolution and performance optimisation.
• Guide integration with REST or GraphQL services, authentication, analytics, content management platforms and third-party libraries.
• Establish responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility and design-system implementation practices.
• Coordinate CI/CD automation, environment configuration, quality gates, versioning and release readiness.
• Validate estimates and technical approaches, ensuring plans include appropriate testing, security and risk mitigation.
• Identify technical or delivery risks early, propose options and escalate quickly when required.
• Coach front-end leads and senior engineers through architecture reviews, design governance and structured technical guidance.
• Serve as a trusted technical adviser for senior clients, programme leadership, product, UX, back-end and QA teams.
• Lead front-end contributions to discovery, solutioning, proposals, technical roadmaps and practice initiatives. Required Skills & Experience Front-End Engineering & Architecture

• Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Tailwind CSS, jQuery and modern browser behaviour.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js and Next.js, including hooks,
component composition, routing, server-side rendering, static generation, data fetching and state management such as Redux Toolkit, Context or comparable approaches.
• Solid working experience with Angular, including components, services, RxJS, routing, forms, dependency injection and change detection.
• Experience designing modular, testable and maintainable front-end architectures, including monorepos, shared libraries or micro-frontends where suitable.
• Ability to evaluate frameworks and libraries, define upgrade strategies and manage compatibility, dependency and technical-debt risks. User Experience, Accessibility & Performance
• Experience implementing responsive interfaces from design specifications and collaborating effectively with UX and visual design teams.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG-aligned accessibility, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation and assistive-technology considerations.
• Experience with browser developer tools, performance profiling, Core Web Vitals, bundle optimisation, lazy loading, caching and rendering performance.
• Understanding of front-end security practices, including secure authentication flows, input handling, dependency hygiene and common web risks. Testing, DevOps & Delivery
• Strong unit, integration and end-to-end testing practices using Jest, React Testing Library, Jasmine, Karma, Cypress, Playwright or comparable tools.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, pull-request governance, package management and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to validate estimates, plan technical delivery and ensure adequate automated testing and risk mitigation.
• Experience working in Agile delivery and communicating decisions, trade-offs, risks and recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders. Nice to Have
• Experience with other modern web delivery models and progressive web applications.
• Experience with design systems, Storybook, component documentation and visual regression testing.
• Exposure to Node.js, backend-for-frontend patterns, cloud platforms and content management systems.
• Experience with web analytics, experimentation, personalisation, observability and production telemetry.
• Knowledge of e-commerce, search, payments or high-traffic consumer digital platforms. What We're Looking For
• Hands-on lead developer who can direct a front-end team while remaining close to architecture, critical code and delivery risk.
• Calm, accountable leader who can navigate ambiguity, crucial conversations and changing priorities.
• Strong architectural judgement with the ability to explain trade-offs and influence implementation.
• Proactive risk manager who validates estimates and introduces practical mitigation.
• Client-focused communicator who builds technical rapport and recommends clear solutions.
• People-focused technical lead who develops senior and junior engineers, builds succession capability and maintains consistent engineering standards. Why Join Us?
