VBA & Excel Automation Expert

Role Purpose:

We are looking for an experienced VBA & Excel Automation Expert to design,

develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise-grade Excel/VBA automation solutions.

The role will work closely with business and process teams to understand

requirements, automate complex processes, improve operational efficiency, and

support large-scale legacy process migration and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- VBA Development: Design and develop robust, scalable VBA macros and

Excel-based automation solutions for complex business processes.

- Process Automation: Analyze existing manual processes, identify

automation opportunities, and deliver solutions that improve productivity,

accuracy, quality, and cycle time.

- Legacy Automation: Understand legacy based business processes and

support automation, migration, and modernization initiatives where

applicable.

- Requirement Analysis: Work directly with business users and process

owners to understand requirements, process logic, exceptions, and expected

outcomes.

- Solution Design: Convert business requirements into efficient technical

designs, automation logic, reusable components, and maintainable VBA

solutions.

- Advanced Excel: Develop solutions using VBA, Excel formulas,

PivotTables, Power Query, data validation, dynamic ranges, and

advanced Excel functionality.

- Data Integration: Integrate Excel/VBA solutions with SQL databases, APIs,

text/CSV files, web applications, and other enterprise systems.

- Performance Optimization: Optimize existing macros for speed, stability,

scalability, and reliability, particularly for large datasets.

- Testing & Quality: Conduct unit testing, integration testing, exception

handling, debugging,



and performance validation before deployment.

- Documentation & Standards: Follow coding standards and maintain

technical documentation, process documentation, user guides, and

support documentation.

- Production Support: Provide L2/L3 support for critical automation solutions,

perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

- Migration Support: Assess existing macros and support migration from

legacy solutions to modernized platforms or FIS versions, ensuring

business continuity.

- Governance: Ensure solutions comply with organizational standards for

security, version control, testing, deployment, and change management.

- Collaboration: Work with Automation, RPA, Data Analytics, Technology, and

Business teams to deliver integrated automation solutions.

- Knowledge Sharing: Mentor junior developers and contribute to VBA

coding standards, reusable frameworks, best practices, and technical

capability development.

Technical Skills

Mandatory:

- Advanced VBA / Excel
- Strong understanding of Excel Object Model
- Advanced Excel formulas and data manipulation
- Debugging and error handling
- Performance optimization
- File/folder and application automation
- UserForms and custom interfaces
- Macro security and deployment

Preferred:

- SQL / PostgreSQL
- Power Query / Power Pivot
- REST APIs / Web Services




- HTML / CSS / JavaScript basics
- VBScript
- Windows scripting
- RPA Blue Prism / Power Automate

Candidate Profile

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in VBA/Excel automation and

development.

- Strong experience delivering enterprise-scale Excel/VBA automation

solutions.

- Experience working with complex datasets, business rules, process

exceptions, and multiple system interfaces.

- Ability to independently understand business processes and convert them into

robust automation solutions.

- Experience working with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Solid analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in shipping/logistics, finance, operations, shared services, or

other complex business environments is an advantage.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related

discipline.

- Relevant certifications in Automation, RPA, Data Analytics, or Microsoft

technologies are an advantage.
