Job DescriptionRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Team Lead - Payments to join our global client's team in Gurgaon. This role is crucial for owning the end-to-end architecture, build, deployment, and operational health of our payments services. You will lead a team of engineers, guiding technical decisions, ensuring compliance, and contributing directly to key initiatives, all while maintaining a strong focus on quality and innovation, including leveraging AI in development processes.

What You'll Do

- Own your team's service(s) end-to-end architecture, build, deployment, monitoring, and day-to-day operational health within established engineering standards.
- Make technical decisions within your domain, acting as the first line of technical judgment.
- Keep existing functionality stable while delivering new work in parallel.
- Ensure your team produces and maintains evidence for PCI DSS and other compliance audits as a standard part of delivery.
- Stay hands-on, personally contributing to the delivery of key initiatives.
- Ensure AI is used throughout the development process to enhance productivity without sacrificing quality.
- Act as direct line manager to the engineers in your team, including regular 1:1s, performance management, day-to-day coaching, and career development.
- Support your products along with your team, ensuring proper out-of-hours cover.




- Work directly with the UK-based Product Manager to translate roadmap and requirements into workable technical plans.
- Take charge of estimation and planning activities to build realistic project plans.
- Produce technical designs for your team's work, present them for sign-off, and manage delivery through changing priorities or real-world issues.
- Proactively flag technical risks and blockers to the Senior Engineering Manager.
- Own the payments service end-to-end, including all live gateway integrations, following handover from the existing team.
- Lead the integration of new payment methods and payment gateways/providers as the roadmap requires.
- Keep all existing payment method and gateway integrations operational, monitored, and incident-ready.
- Act as the team's ultimate authority on payment flows, gateway behavior, and practical gaps or inconsistencies in provider documentation.
