Role Description The Professor Civil role is a full-time, on-site position based at AVIT near Chennai. The Professor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering courses, preparing and delivering lectures, supervising laboratory sessions, and guiding design projects. Daily responsibilities include mentoring students, supervising internships and final-year projects, and providing academic advising.

The role also involves conducting and publishing research, engaging in funded projects, collaborating with industry partners, and contributing to curriculum development in line with current civil engineering practices.



The Professor will participate in departmental administration, accreditation activities, and academic committees, while fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

Qualifications

- Advanced academic qualifications in Civil Engineering (Ph.D. preferred; Master’s degree with strong academic record considered) and a solid foundation in core civil engineering disciplines.
- Demonstrated teaching skills at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including curriculum design, lesson planning, and student assessment.
- Research aptitude with a track record of publications, conference presentations, or ongoing projects in areas relevant to civil engineering.
- Ability to integrate laboratory work, field studies, and industry practices into teaching, and supervise projects, internships, and dissertations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse learners, promote cooperative work, and support student success.
- Experience with academic administration, accreditation processes, or quality assurance activities in an engineering or technical institution is an advantage.
- Interest in developing industry partnerships, participating in consultancy work, and leveraging modern tools and technologies (e.g., CAD, simulation software, BIM) for teaching and research.
- Commitment to ethical practices, inclusive education, and continuous professional development in both teaching and research.
