Senior Naval Architect

KBR is seeking an experienced Senior Naval Architect to join our Chennai office. The role will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise for Structural design of ships, Hull form development and design, weight estimation, stability calculations, supporting the execution of FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects involving vessels, FPSOs, FSOs, offshore platforms, floating structures, transportation, loadout, installation, and marine operations.

Responsibilities

- Lead and perform naval architecture and marine engineering studies for offshore and marine facilities.
- Design and analysis of Ships, boats, floating offshore facilities and marine transport systems.
- Carry out and review hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, stability, seakeeping, transportation, loadout, lifting, towing, installation, and marine operation analyses.
- Develop and review technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, procedures, and design deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and classification society rules.
- Provide technical assurance and governance for naval architecture activities across all project phases.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, classification societies, and regulatory authorities.
- Support proposal development, project estimation,



and business growth activities.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Drive project delivery performance while ensuring quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
- Participate in engineering reviews, risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and constructability reviews.
- Support offshore transportation, installation, and marine operation planning activities.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience & Skills

- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree in Naval Architecture or Offshore Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering.
- Extensive experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO, FSO, Offshore Platforms, Floating Structures, and Marine Infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software including:
- MOSES/ OrcaFlex
- SESAM / SACS,
- AQWA
- MAXSURF

- Solid knowledge of:

- DNV
- ABS
- Lloyd's Register (LR)
- IMO
- SOLAS
- MARPOL
- Other relevant international marine standards

- Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and client-facing experience.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and team collaboration skills.
