Lead Technical Firewall Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate, administer and troubleshoot enterprise firewall platforms and associated secure connectivity services.
- Implement and validate firewall policies, security rules, network objects, NAT policies and site-to-site or remote-access VPN changes through approved processes.
- Monitor platform health, capacity, availability and security events, responding to incidents and service degradation within agreed service levels.
- Perform technical assessment of firewall requests, confirming completeness, feasibility, security impact and alignment with global standards.
- Support Incident, Service Request, Change and Problem Management, including evidence gathering, root- cause analysis and permanent remediation.
- Execute patching, software upgrades, configuration changes and lifecycle activities using controlled implementation and rollback plans.
- Support rule recertification, policy clean-up,



object hygiene, segmentation and zero-trust policy improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, operating procedures, configuration records, control evidence and audit artefacts.
- Partner with global platform owners, Network Operations, Cyber Security, application teams and strategic suppliers to resolve issues and deliver change.
- Identify recurring operational issues and drive service improvements that increase resilience, reduce risk and remove manual effort.
- Participate in knowledge transfer, cross-skilling and follow-the-sun support across Hyderabad, Dublin and other global delivery locations.

AI Expectations - Engineering Tier:

- Use approved AI-enabled tools to accelerate troubleshooting, knowledge retrieval, documentation and operational analysis.

INTERNAL USE ONLY:

- Apply AI-assisted analysis to identify policy anomalies, recurring incidents, configuration drift and optimisation opportunities, with appropriate human validation.
- Contribute to safe automation of repeatable firewall tasks, ensuring approvals, testing, auditability and rollback controls remain in place.
- Demonstrate measurable improvements in service quality, engineering productivity, operational resilience and reduction of manual effort.
- Follow Zurich requirements for secure, responsible and transparent use of AI and enterprise data.

Skills & Experience:

- Professional experience supporting enterprise network security or firewall services in a complex, multi- region environment.
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and centralised management platforms such as Panorama; exposure to Strata Cloud Manager is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, network segmentation, NAT,



security policy, application identification, DNS and VPN technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting firewall connectivity, policy and platform issues using logs, packet captures and monitoring tools.
- Working knowledge of IT service management processes, particularly Incident, Request, Change and Problem Management.
- Experience with firewall rule review, recertification, policy optimisation, vulnerability remediation and configuration compliance.
- Automation or scripting experience using Python, REST APIs, Ansible or Terraform is advantageous.
- Familiarity with cloud network security in Azure or AWS is advantageous.
- Ability to produce explicit technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical teams, service owners and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
- A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience. Certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNP Security, CISSP or comparable credentials are advantageous.

India GCC Contribution:
