Role Overview The Japanese Interpreter & Translator will act as the language bridge between Japanese customers, onsite teams and offshore engineering teams. The role involves interpretation during meetings, translation of technical and business documents, maintaining communication accuracy and supporting smooth collaboration across geographies.

Key Responsibilities

Interpretation Support

- Provide real-time Japanese ↔ English interpretation during:
- Customer meetings
- Technical discussions
- Design reviews
- Project status meetings
- Management reviews
- Ensure accurate communication without loss of technical meaning.
- Support Review meeting & discussions between Japanese customer teams and offshore engineers.

Translation Support

- Translate technical documents:
- Design specifications
- Drawings and engineering reports
- Test reports
- Process documents
- SOPs and work instructions
- Translate business documents:
- Meeting minutes (MoM)
- Presentations
- Email communications
- Project plans
- Customer communications
- Review translated content for quality and consistency.

Project Coordination

- Support communication between customer, onsite and offshore teams.




- Track customer actions and clarification items.
- Facilitate smooth information flow across stakeholders.
- Help eliminate communication gaps and improve responsiveness.

Documentation Management

- Prepare bilingual meeting minutes.
- Maintain translation repositories and terminology databases.
- Standardize engineering terminology across projects.
- Support preparation of QBR/HBR/customer presentations.

Required Qualifications

Education

- Any Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Arts, Languages, Business or related field.
- JLPT N2 or N1 preferred.

Experience

- 3+ years of Japanese interpretation and translation experience.
- Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, automotive, construction equipment or industrial projects.
- Experience working with Japanese customers is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

- Japanese ↔ English translation.
- Simultaneous and consecutive interpretation.
- Technical document translation.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Meeting management and documentation.

Language Requirements

Mandatory
