Role Overview

Nomiso manages database and middleware services for a large telecom operator group across 15+ markets in India and South East Asia. As a Database Engineer, you will own live MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL databases—both on‑premise and cloud—that carry subscriber traffic. You will also handle data copies, migrations, and incident resolution. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical depth and an SRE mindset: automate repetitive work, tune alerts, and reduce repeat incidents.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL databases in production (on‑premise and cloud).
- Troubleshoot replication lag, failovers, disk issues, and restore databases under time pressure.
- Perform data copies between environments and migrations (on‑premise to cloud, version upgrades).
- Optimize queries, manage backups/restores, and ensure high availability.
- Write and maintain runbooks, ensuring knowledge sharing across the team.
- Suggest performance improvements, cost savings, and upgrade plans to leads.

Reporting Line

Reports to the Delivery Manager, Database Managed Services. Works closely with client engineering leads and support teams across India and South East Asia.
