Job Profile – Assistant Manager, Hostel Mess & Kitchen Operations

Profile Summary:

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the university hostel mess, kitchen, and mess staff, ensuring timely service of quality, hygienic, and nutritious meals while maintaining operational efficiency, cost control, and student satisfaction.

Reporting To: Pro VC- Administration

Work Location: University Campus, Bengaluru

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily hostel mess and kitchen operations, ensuring timely meal preparation and service.
- Supervise chefs, cooks, kitchen assistants, serving staff, and housekeeping personnel.
- Monitor food quality, hygiene, sanitation, and compliance with applicable FSSAI requirements.
- Coordinate menu planning, food procurement, inventory management, and vendor operations.
- Control food costs, minimise wastage, and maintain stock and consumption records.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and dining facilities.
- Address student feedback and grievances related to food quality, quantity, and service.
- Maintain operational records and submit periodic reports to the university management.





Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Catering Technology, Food Production, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with relevant practical experience in institutional catering or large-scale food service operations may also be considered.

Experience:

- Preferably 5–8 years of relevant experience in hospitality, catering services, restaurant management, or institutional kitchen operations.
- Experience in managing university or college hostel messes, corporate cafeterias, or large-scale catering facilities will be an added advantage.
