Position : Lab Assistant Department : (IB Programme - MYP/DP) Reporting To : Head of Science / IB Coordinator / School Principal Location : Hyderabad, Telangana Organisation :The Shri Ram Academy

Role Purpose

The Lab Assistant supports the effective functioning of the Science laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring laboratory safety. The role involves assisting teachers and students during practical sessions while maintaining IB standards for inquiry-based learning and laboratory practices.

Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Preparation

- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials for practical classes as instructed by teachers.
- Set up experiments for IB MYP and DP science practical sessions .
- Ensure all apparatus and resources are ready before the start of each laboratory class.
- Assist teachers during demonstrations and student experiments.

Laboratory Maintenance

- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of laboratory spaces.
- Regularly check and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintain proper storage of chemicals and materials as per safety guidelines.
- Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste and laboratory materials.

Safety and Compliance

- Ensure laboratory safety standards are followed according to IB and school safety policies .
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical inventory.
- Ensure students follow safety procedures during experiments.
- Monitor usage of safety equipment such as goggles, gloves, and lab coats.

Inventory Management





- Maintain records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
- Conduct periodic stock checks and report shortages.
- Assist in procurement by preparing lists of required laboratory materials.

Administrative Support

- Maintain records of practical sessions and lab usage.
- Assist in organizing laboratory resources for IB practical assessments and projects .
- Support science exhibitions, fairs, and IB project work when required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Life Sciences) or related field.
- Laboratory Technician certification or relevant training preferred.

Experience

- 1-3 years of experience working in a school or educational laboratory preferred.
- Experience in IB curriculum or international schools is an added advantage.

- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards.
- Basic understanding of IB inquiry-based science learning .
- Ability to handle chemicals and laboratory equipment safely.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Teamwork and communication skills to support teachers and students.

Additional Responsibilities

- Assist during science events, exhibitions, and fairs.
- Support laboratory audits and inspections.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Science or School Leadership .

Job Types : Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
