Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to test a cloud-based, distributed SaaS platform. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone with 7–8+ years of experience. You should have broad technical knowledge and be able to think at the system level. You will own the quality of the product areas assigned to you. That means testing features, integrations, cloud behavior and complete customer workflows, and making sure test coverage leaves no critical risk untested. The right person has strong functional and system testing skills, knows cloud and microservices architecture well, and takes an investigative approach to finding complex defects that affect customers.
Key Responsibilities
Test design and coverage
- Design and run comprehensive functional, system,
integration, end-to-end and regression tests for the areas you own.
- Build and maintain coverage for those areas (requirement traceability, risk-based coverage maps, mind maps) so that critical workflows, configurations and integrations are all validated.
- Find gaps in test coverage and close them proactively across releases.
- Design detailed test matrices covering permutations and combinations of configurations, user roles, deployments and data variations.
System and cloud testing
- Test across microservices, APIs, event streams, databases and third-party integrations.
- Validate application behavior in cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP), including scalability, failover, resiliency, multi-tenancy and behavior that depends on configuration.
- Find and investigate intermittent, concurrency, timing and distributed-system defects using logs, monitoring and observability tools.
- Check data integrity and transaction consistency with SQL/NoSQL queries and log analysis.
Exploratory and customer-focused testing
- Apply advanced exploratory, heuristic-based and risk-based testing to find edge cases, negative scenarios and hidden integration failures.
- Simulate real customer workflows under complex enterprise configurations and data volumes.
- Run impact analysis and sanity, regression and cross-functional checks for releases, patches and hotfixes.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Development, DevOps and Architecture teams to clarify requirements and question assumptions early.
- Write clear defect reports that cover root cause, reproduction steps, business impact and troubleshooting details.
- Take an active part in Agile ceremonies, release readiness reviews and quality risk discussions.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
Technical
- 7–8+ years in software QA, with strong depth in functional, system, integration and end-to-end testing of enterprise SaaS or cloud products.
- Hands-on experience testing distributed, microservices-based applications on AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Strong ability to design tests and plan coverage, including test matrices, scenario combinations and risk-based prioritization.
- Hands-on REST API testing (Postman or similar) and backend validation with SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Strong debugging skills using logs, APIs, databases and monitoring tools (e.g. Kibana, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog).
- Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containers and cloud infrastructure concepts as they affect testing.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum teams with fast release cycles.
Soft skills
- Strong ownership of and accountability for product quality.
- Ability to work independently on complex, loosely defined problems and turn them into clear test plans.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, and willingness to think beyond documented requirements.
- Clear communication and good collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle several testing activities in parallel and work under pressure.
Good to Have
- Experience with Contact Center, CCaaS, Unified Communications, CX or telephony platforms.
- Exposure to omnichannel workflows such as voice, chat, email, routing, reporting and agent or supervisor workflows.
- Exposure to test automation (Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured or similar).
- Experience with performance, load or resiliency testing (JMeter, k6, chaos testing).
- Basic knowledge of security testing.
- ISTQB Advanced or an equivalent certification.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Information
Ideal Candidate Profile
A seasoned, hands-on QA professional who sees the whole system rather than individual features. They understand how cloud infrastructure, services, data and customer workflows fit together, and their test coverage reflects that. They are technically curious, very positive at exploratory testing, and focused on delivering stable, high-quality releases.
Work Location and Hours
- Work from Office, Monday to Friday, at Magarpatta, Pune.
- General shift, with flexibility to coordinate with global stakeholders across time zones when needed.
