Role Overview

As a Senior Video Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize the complete video ingestion and processing pipeline—from the moment a creator uploads a video until it is available for streaming across millions of users.

You will own high-performance upload services, distributed transcoding pipelines, adaptive bitrate generation, storage optimization, CDN integration, and video delivery architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Video Upload Infrastructure

- Design highly reliable and fault-tolerant upload pipelines
- Build resumable and chunked upload mechanisms
- Optimize uploads for unstable mobile networks
- Support uploads of:

Short videos Long-form videos (up to 40+ minutes)
- High-resolution videos (1080p/4K)
- Reduce upload latency using intelligent routing
- Implement upload retry and recovery mechanisms

Video Processing Pipeline

Design scalable media processing systems including:

- Distributed transcoding
- Parallel encoding
- Video compression
- Thumbnail generation
- Adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR)
- HLS/DASH packaging
- Audio normalization
- Metadata extraction
- Caption generation support
- AI moderation integration

Performance Optimization

- Reduce upload completion time
- Optimize transcoding costs
- Improve encoding throughput
- GPU acceleration where applicable
- Parallel processing architecture
- Queue optimization




- Pipeline latency reduction
- Storage optimization

Streaming Infrastructure

Build and optimize

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5–10+ years of backend or video infrastructure engineering experience
- Experience building large-scale video platforms
- Experience supporting millions of daily uploads
- Knowledge of GPU-accelerated encoding
- Experience with AI-assisted video processing
- Experience working with CDN providers
- Strong understanding of network protocols and media delivery

Must have knowledge of:

- Experience building systems similar to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, ShareChat, Moj, or MX TakaTak
- Knowledge of WebRTC
- Live streaming architecture
- DRM technologies
- Video analytics
- AI-based content moderation
- Video recommendation pipelines
