Senior Platform Engineer (Azure)

The Senior Azure Platform Architect is responsible for the strategy, architecture, engineering, and governance of the enterprise Microsoft Azure platform. This role serves as the technical lead for cloud infrastructure, Azure networking and security, hybrid connectivity, automation, platform modernization, and cloud adoption initiatives.

Working across infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, database, application, and operations teams, the Senior Azure Platform Architect designs secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions while establishing the standards and roadmaps that guide the organization's cloud strategy.

Azure platform architecture and engineering are the primary focus of this role. Disaster recovery, business continuity, and data protection technologies are supporting responsibilities that ensure overall platform resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Architecture & Strategy

- Define and maintain the enterprise Azure architecture and cloud strategy.
- Establish platform standards, reference architectures, governance models, and engineering best practices.
- Develop technology roadmaps that support modernization, cloud adoption, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate new Azure services and capabilities to determine business and technical value.
- Serve as the organization's senior technical advisor for Azure technologies and cloud infrastructure decisions.





Platform Engineering & Modernization

- Lead the design and implementation of Azure infrastructure services, landing zones, subscription structures, and management frameworks.
- Partner with application, database, and infrastructure teams to design cloud-native and hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Provide architectural leadership for migration and modernization initiatives moving workloads from legacy platforms into Azure.
- Drive standardization, automation, and operational maturity across the Azure workplace.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues in collaboration with internal teams, Microsoft, and strategic partners.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or solution architecture experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure architecture and engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, governance, security, and infrastructure services.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, cloud modernization, and migration strategies.
- Experience with cloud financial management and cost optimization.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Experience with Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure and enterprise datacenter environments.
- Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery, Zerto, Cohesity, and enterprise disaster recovery practices.
- Experience evaluating cloud optimization and FinOps solutions.
- Knowledge of enterprise security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
