Role Description The Obstetrics & Gynecology Consultant will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including outpatient consultations, inpatient management, and emergency services. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting antenatal and postnatal assessments, managing labor and deliveries, performing gynecologic evaluations and procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure secure, evidence-based care. The consultant will participate in clinical decision-making, maintain accurate medical records, provide counseling and education to patients and families, and adhere to hospital protocols and quality standards.

This is a temporary, on-site role based at Tambaram Medical Center’s facility in Sholinganallur,



requiring flexibility to cover shifts, weekends, and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

- Completed medical degree (MBBS) and recognized postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics & Gynecology (e.g., MD, MS, DNB) with appropriate registration from relevant medical councils.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in antenatal and postnatal care, labor management, normal and high-risk pregnancy, and common gynecologic conditions.
- Proficiency in obstetric and gynecologic procedures such as cesarean sections, assisted deliveries, minor gynecologic surgeries, and emergency interventions.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice skills, with the ability to manage complex cases and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to counsel patients and families with sensitivity and maintain transparent, accurate documentation.
- Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and adherence to hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, adapt to a fast-paced clinical setting, and provide reliable coverage for shifts and on-call duties.
- Prior experience in tertiary care or multi-specialty hospital settings is highly desirable; familiarity with electronic medical records is an added advantage.
