About TruRanX

TruRanX is a deep-tech startup in Belagavi, Karnataka, that builds a hardware-agnostic, full-stack 5G NR software solution (PHY, L2 and L3) for O-RAN 7.2a, written from scratch in-house.

Our first focus is Indian research and education establishments: universities, engineering colleges and research institutes that need a working 5G platform for teaching and research. Our secondary markets are the US, Europe and Asia, where we sell to private 5G, defense and SATCOM customers. We are a small, engineering-led team, so every hire has direct access to the founder and real influence on how the company sells.

The Role

You will open doors with academic and technical buyers and turn first conversations into paid lab installations, pilots and licensing deals. This is a hands-on, founder-adjacent sales role: you own the pipeline from first contact to signed agreement, and the founder joins for technical deep dives.

- Title : Business Development Manager (5G / Deep-Tech)
- Reports to: Founder & CTO
- Experience: 2 to 6 years in B2B technical sales or business development
- Location: Hybrid - with travel for campus visits, trade shows and customer meetings
- Markets: India first (research and education establishments), sold on value rather than discounts; US, Europe and Asia as secondary markets
- Working hours: Regular India hours, with some overlap with US, European and Asian time zones for overseas calls

Success after 3-6 months: a steady flow of qualified meetings with professors, department heads, deans and procurement officers, research institutes running paid labs or pilots, and signed purchase or license agreements. Set the exact numbers with the founder.

What You Will Do

- Build and maintain target account lists, starting with Indian engineering colleges, universities, research institutes and government-funded labs, then private 5G, defense, SATCOM and OEM accounts in the US, Europe and Asia.

- Prospect daily through LinkedIn, email, conferences and warm introductions, and book discovery calls with professors, department heads, deans and procurement officers in India, and with CTOs, R&D; heads and program managers overseas.
- Qualify opportunities, coordinate demos and technical sessions with the founder, and scope lab setups, pilots and proofs of concept.
- Prepare proposals, quotations and licensing terms, handle institutional purchase processes such as tenders and grant-funded procurement, run NDA and contract discussions, and negotiate through to close.
- Represent TruRanX at trade shows, academic conferences, workshops, webinars and campus visits, and follow up on every lead within 48 hours.
- Keep the CRM current and send a short weekly pipeline report to the founder.
- Bring back market intelligence: what customers ask for, what competitors offer, and where deals stall.

Who We Are Looking For

Must have

- 2 to 6 years in B2B technical sales or business development, ideally in telecom, wireless, semiconductors, embedded or software IP, test and measurement, or defense electronics.
- A record of selling to engineers, academics and technical decision-makers, and of closing deals with sales cycles of six months or more.
- Excellent spoken and written English; comfortable presenting to professors, deans and senior executives, and running calls with customers in the US, Europe and Asia.
- Enough grounding in wireless or telecom to follow 5G, O-RAN and SDR conversations,

and the curiosity to learn the rest quickly.
- Experience building your own pipeline from cold outreach, not only servicing inbound leads.

Positive to have

- Engineering degree (electronics, telecom or computer science); an MBA is a plus, not a requirement.
- Existing relationships with universities, engineering colleges and research institutes, or with telecom, defense and SATCOM companies and system integrators.
- Startup experience and comfort with limited marketing budget.
- Familiarity with institutional purchasing (tenders, quotations, grant-funded procurement), NDAs, licensing models and export-control basics.

The Person We Want

- Go-getter attitude. You start without being told, set your own targets, and treat a quiet pipeline as your problem to fix.
- Persistence. Deep-tech deals take many touches. You follow up politely and consistently, and a "no" or silence makes you adjust your approach instead of stopping.
- Well-spoken and credible. You explain a technical product clearly, listen well, and hold your own with a CTO or a procurement head.
- Professional presence. You are well-groomed, confident and composed in meetings, on video calls and at trade shows.
- Resourceful with little budget. You create opportunities through networking, content and referrals rather than paid campaigns.
- Integrity. You sell honestly, never overstate what the product does, and do not offer or accept bribes, kickbacks or side payments. Every deal is clean and documented.
- Value-led selling. You defend our price with the research and teaching value the institute gets, instead of giving discounts to win a price-sensitive buyer.

Compensation and Growth

- Fixed salary & Variable pay: [commission or incentive on closed revenue]
- Growth path: lead the sales function as the company grows, with scope to build and manage a team
