Cloud Database Architect - IBM Db2

Enterprise database architecture | Db2 LUW | Microsoft Azure

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Database Architect with solid expertise in IBM Db2, Db2 LUW, and cloud migration projects, particularly on Microsoft Azure. The role involves designing up-to-date database architectures, setting up Db2 LUW on Azure, and leading migrations from Db2 on AIX to Db2 LUW and cloud platforms.

EXPERIENCE

Experience leading complex enterprise database architecture and migration initiatives, with demonstrated expertise in IBM Db2 LUW and cloud migration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement Db2 LUW database architectures for enterprise workloads.
Set up and configure Db2 LUW on Azure infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
Lead migrations from Db2 on AIX to Db2 LUW and Azure.
Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.
Define backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions, including HADR.
Ensure database security, compliance, and operational governance.




Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to support delivery.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Robust hands-on experience with IBM Db2 on AIX and Db2 LUW.
Proven experience migrating Db2 from AIX to Linux (LUW) and/or cloud platforms.
Experience deploying and managing Db2 on Azure Virtual Machines.
Skills in performance tuning, SQL optimization, and capacity planning.
Knowledge of Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and Azure Monitor.
Scripting experience with Shell, PowerShell, or Python.

NICE TO HAVE
Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of other databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
IBM or Microsoft Azure certifications.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
