A hotel caretaker ensures the smooth, daily operation of a property by managing maintenance, cleaning, security, and guest services. Key duties include performing minor repairs (plumbing/electrical), overseeing housekeeping, welcoming guests, managing inventory, and maintaining grounds. They act as the primary point of contact for upkeep and security. Key Responsibilities and Duties
Property Maintenance & Security: Inspecting buildings, maintaining, and repairing heating, lighting, and plumbing systems. Ensuring all doors, windows, and security alarms are locked.
Cleaning & Housekeeping: Supervising or performing cleaning of guest rooms and common areas, including, in some cases, managing linens and laundry.
Guest Services: Welcoming guests, managing check-ins/check-outs, and addressing inquiries or complaints.
Operational Support: Managing inventory of cleaning supplies and guest amenities. Gardening, landscaping, and, in remote locations,



managing generators.
Vendor Management: Coordinating with contractors and tradespeople for major repairs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and handyman tools.
Interpersonal Skills: Positive communication, patience, and a service-oriented mindset.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, cleaning, and gardening.
Organizational Skills: Capable of handling inventory, administrative tasks, and coordinating schedules.
Independent Judgment: Ability to work alone and make decisions, especially for security or maintenance emergencies.
