A Store Keeper (Road Construction) is responsible for managing, organizing, and securing all materials, tools, equipment, and fuel at a construction site or central depot. Because road construction projects span large geographic areas and involve heavy machinery and bulk raw materials, the store keeper plays a vital role in preventing project delays and material theft or waste.

Key Responsibilities

- Inventory Receipt & Inspection: Receive incoming construction materials (such as cement, bitumen, aggregates, steel bars, pipes, and geotextiles), inspect them for quantity and quality against purchase orders (POs), and verify delivery challans.
- Stock Control & Storage Management: Properly store materials according to safety and manufacturer guidelines (e.g., keeping cement dry, securing steel from rust, storing fuel and hazardous chemicals safely) to prevent damage or spoilage.
- Issuance & Tracking: Issue materials and tools to site engineers, foremen, or work crews based on approved requisitions. Maintain meticulous records of what was issued, to whom, and for which specific task or chainage.
- Inventory Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date ledgers, stock registers, and computerized inventory systems (ERP/Excel) tracking minimum stock levels, reorder points, and daily consumption rates.
- Equipment & Asset Management: Keep a log of small tools, surveying equipment, safety gear (PPE),



and machinery spare parts, ensuring they are returned after use and serviced or replaced when needed.
- Periodic Audits & Reporting: Conduct regular physical stock counts and physical audits, reconciling inventory records with actual stock. Report discrepancies, damages, or stock shortages immediately to the Project Manager or Procurement Head.

Core Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Typically requires a High School Diploma, Vocational Certificate, or a Bachelor’s degree (in Commerce, Business, or a related field).
- Experience: Generally 2 to 5+ years of inventory management or warehouse experience, ideally within civil engineering, infrastructure, or heavy construction sectors.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with road construction materials (aggregates, bitumen grades, steel, cement) and heavy equipment spare parts.
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Excel, inventory management software, or ERP systems).
- Knowledge of site safety practices, especially regarding flammable materials like fuel and bitumen.
- Soft Skills: High level of honesty and integrity, solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in remote or busy site offices.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
