A Customs Manager oversees a company's import and export operations, managing cross-border regulatory compliance, tariff classifications, and customs clearance processes

Responsibilities

- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all shipments comply with national and international laws, DGFT norms, GST, and trade restrictions.
- Documentation & Filing: Review, prepare, and verify critical shipping paperwork including Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise directly with Customs House Agents (CHAs), freight forwarders, shipping lines, port authorities, and government regulators.
- Cost & Risk Mitigation: Track duty structures, HS code classifications, and tariff applications while preventing demurrage, detention, and clearance penalties.
- Audits & Record Keeping: Maintain statutory transaction records, update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and support internal or external compliance audits
