About the Opportunity
We are looking for an exceptional researcher and technology builder to join the founding team as a Co-Founder and help shape the development of a quantum technology platform.
The opportunity is intended for someone with deep knowledge of quantum mechanics, quantum physics, quantum computing, and related scientific fields, combined with strong programming skills and an interest in building practical technology products.
You will work directly with the founder to define the product vision, explore scientific and computational approaches, develop technical architecture, build prototypes, and translate research into functional software.
The role also requires excellent communication and writing skills. You should be comfortable researching scientific developments, writing technical articles, documenting methodologies, and explaining complex quantum concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
This is a founding role for someone who wants to contribute to scientific research, technology development, product strategy, and the long-term direction of a venture.
A PhD in a relevant field is mandatory. We are looking for someone who can combine scientific depth with practical engineering capability and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantum Research & Scientific Exploration
- Research quantum mechanics, quantum physics, quantum computing, and quantum information science.
- Investigate quantum algorithms, quantum circuits, quantum simulation, quantum optimisation, and related computational methods.
- Evaluate how quantum technologies and quantum-inspired approaches may be applied to complex computational and real-world problems.
- Study scientific publications, research papers, technical documentation, and emerging developments.
- Assess the feasibility, limitations, computational requirements, and potential applications of different approaches.
- Identify problems that can be addressed using classical computing, quantum-inspired methods, quantum simulators, or actual quantum hardware.
- Establish scientifically grounded methodologies and distinguish validated results from hypotheses and experimental possibilities.
2. Product Architecture & Technology Development
- Help define the product vision, technical requirements, and development roadmap.
- Design and build the core technology platform, including prototypes and minimum viable products.
- Develop software components, APIs, backend systems, and integrations.
- Translate research findings into practical product features and computational workflows.
- Explore the integration of AI, machine learning, classical computing, and quantum technologies where appropriate.
- Evaluate development frameworks, programming languages, databases, cloud infrastructure, and technical tools.
- Design systems that are modular, maintainable, secure, and scalable.
- Take ownership of technical problem-solving and help move the product from concept to implementation.
3. Quantum Algorithms & Computational Systems
- Research and implement suitable quantum algorithms for relevant computational problems.
- Develop and test quantum circuits and simulations where appropriate.
- Work with quantum development frameworks such as Qiskit, PennyLane, or other relevant tools.
- Explore quantum optimisation, simulation, and other applications supported by current scientific capabilities.
- Benchmark quantum approaches against suitable classical alternatives.
- Investigate when specialised hardware, additional research, or external computational resources may be necessary.
- Help build systems that communicate the status of a solution, unresolved limitations, and the additional resources required for further investigation.
- Evaluate whether a proposed quantum approach provides a meaningful advantage for a given problem rather than assuming quantum computing is always superior.
4. Product Strategy & Technical Leadership
- Collaborate with the founder to shape the product's long-term direction.
- Identify promising applications, user problems, and technical opportunities.
- Convert research concepts into product specifications, technical frameworks, and working prototypes.
- Evaluate technical feasibility and recommend practical implementation strategies.
- Establish development processes, testing standards, documentation practices, and technical milestones.
- Contribute to important product and business decisions.
- Help identify future engineering and research requirements as the venture develops.
- Take responsibility for agreed deliverables and the technical progress of the product.
5. Scientific Writing & Technical Communication
- Write high-quality articles about quantum mechanics, quantum physics, quantum computing, and emerging applications.
- Prepare research summaries, technical reports, and scientific explainers.
- Translate complex quantum concepts into clear and accessible language.
- Document algorithms, experiments, methodologies, implementation details, and results.
- Communicate technical capabilities, limitations, and findings accurately.
- Contribute to research publications, technical presentations, and product documentation.
- Support the development of a credible scientific and technical presence through well-researched content.
- Review technical content for accuracy and ensure that claims are supported by appropriate evidence.
6. Marketing, Outreach & Industry Collaboration
- Help communicate the product's technical value proposition to relevant audiences.
- Contribute to the development of technical presentations, product demonstrations, and research-led marketing materials.
- Identify potential industry applications, research partners, and collaboration opportunities.
- Support discussions with prospective customers, researchers, academic institutions, and technology partners.
- Help explain the product's capabilities to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the marketing function to ensure that scientific claims are accurate and clearly communicated.
- Contribute ideas for building awareness and establishing credibility within the quantum technology ecosystem.
7. Founding Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the founder to define priorities and execute the product roadmap.
- Participate in strategic discussions about technology, research, and business direction.
- Balance scientific exploration with practical product development.
- Take ownership of agreed responsibilities and contribute consistently.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Help establish processes and technical capabilities that can support future growth.
Mandatory Qualifications
Academic Requirements
- A PhD is mandatory in Quantum Physics, Quantum Computing, Quantum Information Science, Quantum Mechanics, Theoretical Physics, or a closely related field.
- Strong research-level understanding of quantum mechanics and quantum theory.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, evaluate scientific literature, and develop rigorous technical arguments.
Quantum Technology Knowledge
- Strong understanding of quantum computing principles and relevant computational methods.
- Knowledge of quantum algorithms, quantum circuits, quantum simulation, or quantum information.
- Understanding of the practical limitations of quantum hardware and current quantum computing technologies.
- Ability to evaluate the suitability of quantum, quantum-inspired, and classical approaches for different problems.

- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or another relevant language.
- Ability to develop, test, and debug software or computational systems.
- Understanding of software architecture, APIs, data handling,
and system integration.
- Ability to translate scientific concepts into technical implementations or working prototypes.
- Willingness and ability to contribute directly to product development rather than focus exclusively on theoretical research.
Communication & Writing Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write technical articles, research summaries, and detailed documentation.
- Ability to explain complex scientific concepts to different audiences.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and commitment to technical accuracy.
