Position: Site Engineer

1. Job Summary

The Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising daily construction activities, ensuring work is carried out according to approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards, and project schedules. The role involves coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and workers to ensure timely and efficient project execution.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Site Supervision and Execution

- Supervise day-to-day construction activities at the project site.
- Ensure construction work is executed according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Monitor civil works, including excavation, PCC, RCC, shuttering, reinforcement, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, and finishing.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, machinery, and equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to achieve daily work targets.

B. Quality Control

- Ensure construction activities comply with approved quality standards and specifications.
- Check reinforcement, shuttering, concrete work, masonry, and finishing before execution or inspection.
- Coordinate concrete sampling, cube testing, and other required quality tests.
- Identify construction defects and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Maintain quality inspection records and site checklists.

C. Drawing and Technical Coordination

- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, and structural engineers to resolve site-related technical issues.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Ensure the latest approved drawings are available and used at the site.
- Assist in preparing measurements, quantity calculations, and material estimates.

D. Progress Monitoring and Reporting

- Monitor daily construction progress against the project schedule.
- Prepare daily progress reports (DPRs).
- Maintain records of manpower, materials, equipment, and completed activities.
- Report delays, technical issues, and resource requirements to the Project Manager.




- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly progress reports.

E. Material and Resource Management

- Check the quality and quantity of materials received at the site.
- Coordinate material requirements and timely procurement with the store and purchase departments.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of construction materials.
- Verify material availability before starting scheduled activities.

F. Measurement and Billing

- Take site measurements and maintain measurement records.
- Verify contractor and subcontractor work quantities.
- Assist in preparing bills, running account (RA) bills, and quantity reconciliation.
- Support preparation of BOQs, estimates, and as-built measurements.

G. Safety and Compliance

- Ensure workers follow site safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Identify unsafe working conditions and report or address them promptly.
- Maintain housekeeping and safe access throughout the work area.
- Coordinate with the safety team to implement site safety requirements.
- Ensure construction activities comply with applicable regulations and company policies.

H. Coordination and Documentation

- Coordinate with the Project Manager, planning team, quality team, safety team, and contractors.
- Attend site meetings and communicate work progress and constraints.
- Maintain site registers, inspection records, checklists, and relevant construction documents.
- Support inspections by clients, consultants, and authorities.

3. Educational Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Relevant technical qualifications and practical site experience.

4. Experience

- Experience: 1–5 years in civil construction, depending on project requirements.




- Freshers may be considered for trainee or junior Site Engineer positions.
- Experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.

5. Required Skills

- Valuable knowledge of civil construction methods and practices.
- Ability to read architectural and structural drawings.
- Understanding of construction materials, quality control, and site safety.
- Knowledge of quantity estimation and measurement.
- Basic proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage site activities and meet project deadlines.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Achievement of planned daily and weekly construction targets.
- Quality of executed work and reduction in rework.
- Effective manpower and material utilization.
- Timely completion of assigned activities.
- Accuracy of site measurements and reports.
- Compliance with safety procedures.
- Proper maintenance of site documentation.

7. Working Conditions

- Full-time position based at the construction site.
- May require extended working hours depending on project requirements.
- Regular coordination with contractors, consultants, vendors, and site teams.

8. Overall Accountability

The Site Engineer is accountable for the timely, safe, and quality execution of assigned construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and the instructions of the Project Manager.
