Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Systems Maintenance

- Maintain and repair electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lights, fans, and other electrical installations throughout the hospital.
- Inspect and maintain electrical panels, distribution boards, MCBs, MCCBs, RCCBs, circuit breakers, and protective devices.
- Identify and rectify electrical faults, short circuits, power failures, and loose connections.
- Inspect earthing systems and report electrical safety hazards.
- Attend electrical complaints from OPD, IPD, ICU, Emergency, OT, laboratories, wards, pharmacy, kitchen, and administrative areas.

Emergency Power Supply

- Monitor the operational readiness of generators, UPS systems, inverters, and emergency power supply arrangements.
- Conduct routine checks of generator status, battery condition, and emergency lighting as assigned.
- Ensure power backup availability in critical patient-care areas, including ICU, Operation Theatre, and Emergency Department.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns affecting patient care and inform the Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate with authorized service providers for generator, UPS, and electrical panel servicing.

Preventive and Breakdown Maintenance

- Carry out preventive maintenance according to the approved schedule.




- Attend electrical complaints and emergency maintenance requests promptly.
- Identify recurring electrical faults and implement corrective measures as authorized.
- Inspect electrical cables, conduits, sockets, and connections for damage, overheating, and wear.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize disruption to hospital operations.

Electrical Safety and Compliance

- Follow electrical safety procedures, fire safety protocols, and applicable hospital safety requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and approved tools.
- Isolate electrical supplies and follow approved lockout/tagout procedures before maintenance wherever required.
- Avoid unauthorized live electrical work.
- Coordinate with the Biomedical Engineering team before working on or near medical equipment.
- Immediately report electrical hazards, burning smells, sparks, overheating, and potential fire risks.
- Support electrical safety inspections and statutory inspections by authorized personnel.
- Assist in maintaining electrical safety documentation required for hospital quality and NABH assessments.
