Job Description: Commercial Head – Accounts & Finance

1. Job Purpose

To lead the commercial, accounting and finance operations of the Minerals Division, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective working capital management, statutory compliance, cost control and smooth coordination across procurement, production, logistics, sales and other business functions.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Accounts & Finance

- Oversee day-to-day accounting, general ledger, journal entries and financial transactions.
- Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing and reporting.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow statements and financial MIS.
- Monitor plant operating expenses, cost of production, profitability and budget variances.
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations, vendor reconciliations and customer account reconciliations.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure audit readiness.

B. Commercial Operations

- Manage the procure-to-pay and order-to-cash processes.
- Monitor purchase orders, vendor payments, customer billing, collections and outstanding receivables.
- Oversee commercial documentation for domestic sales, exports and imports, wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with logistics, transporters, warehouses and sales teams for dispatch documentation, freight costs and delivery reconciliation.
- Review vendor quotations, commercial terms, credit limits and payment terms.
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock reconciliation and material movement in coordination with Stores and Production.

C. SAP & ERP Management

- Mandatory: Strong hands-on working knowledge of SAP.
- Manage and review commercial and accounting transactions through SAP.
- Ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of purchase, sales, inventory, vendor and customer transactions.
- Generate financial and commercial MIS reports using SAP.




- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve SAP transaction errors and improve process controls.
- Ensure compliance with approval workflows, documentation requirements and internal controls.

D. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

- Oversee GST compliance, including reconciliations, returns and input tax credit verification.
- Ensure TDS compliance, applicable statutory payments and periodic returns.
- Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants for assessments and statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

E. Costing & Working Capital

- Monitor product costing, production expenses, freight costs and contribution margins.
- Analyse cost variances and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Monitor working capital, cash flow, inventory levels and receivables.
- Prepare periodic profitability reports and support management decision-making.

F. Team Leadership & Coordination

- Lead the Accounts and Commercial team and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Establish effective internal controls and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with Plant Operations, Procurement, Sales, Stores, Logistics and Corporate Finance.
- Submit timely financial reports, commercial dashboards and management MIS.

3. Mandatory Requirements

- Location: Candidate must be currently based in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu, and available to work on-site at the plant.
- SAP: Strong hands-on SAP experience is compulsory, preferably in SAP FI/CO and relevant MM/SD commercial processes.

Candidates who do not meet both mandatory requirements should not be shortlisted.

4. Educational Qualification





- CA / CMA / MBA Finance / M.Com / M.Com with relevant professional qualifications, or B.Com with substantial relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, taxation, commercial finance and financial controls.

5. Experience

- Suggested experience: 8–12 years in Accounts, Finance and Commercial functions, preferably in manufacturing or process industries.
- Experience in industrial minerals, mining, manufacturing, bulk materials, logistics or export-oriented operations will be an advantage.
- Previous experience managing a plant-level Accounts and Commercial function is preferred.

6. Key Competencies

- Advanced SAP and MS Excel skills.
- Solid analytical, costing and financial reporting capabilities.
- Sound knowledge of GST, TDS, working capital and statutory compliance.
- Vendor management, negotiation and commercial decision-making.
- Leadership, communication, integrity and cross-functional coordination.

7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely monthly financial closing and MIS submission.
- Accuracy of accounting, reconciliations and SAP transactions.
- Timely GST/TDS compliance and audit closure.
- Reduction in outstanding receivables and overdue vendor reconciliations.
- Budget adherence and cost optimisation.
- Inventory and commercial documentation accuracy.
- Compliance with company policies and approval workflows.

8. Application Screening Criteria

Recruitment screening must confirm the following before shortlisting:

- Candidate's current location is Thoothukudi / Tuticorin.
- Hands-on SAP experience, including modules used and duration of experience.
- Total relevant experience in Accounts, Finance and Commercial.
- Current employer, current CTC and expected CTC.
- Notice period and availability to join.

Note: Salary and designation grade can be finalised based on the candidate's experience, SAP proficiency and current compensation.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
