Reporting To: Founder / CEO

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in crane design, structural and mechanical calculations, engineering validation, and team leadership. The candidate will be responsible for developing standardized and scalable engineering processes, improving design quality, optimizing costs, and ensuring timely engineering deliverables while maintaining safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.

We are looking for a leader who can build a strong engineering team, establish systematic design processes, and reduce dependency on individual expertise.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering Leadership

Lead the complete design and engineering of EOT cranes and customized lifting systems.

Oversee structural design, mechanical calculations, component selection, and technical validation.

Ensure compliance with applicable IS standards, FEM standards, and customer-specific requirements.

Review and approve General Arrangement (GA) drawings, detailed engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

2. Product Standardization & Engineering Systems

Develop standardized, modular, and configurable crane designs while accommodating customer-specific requirements.

Establish engineering workflows covering customer requirements, GA drawings, detailed design, BOM preparation, and manufacturing release.

Develop engineering libraries, design templates, calculation sheets, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).





Implement structured design processes to reduce engineering lead time and dependency on individual team members.

3. CAD Design & Technical Documentation

Lead the implementation and effective utilization of SolidWorks and 3D design tools.

Ensure accuracy and timely release of engineering drawings, technical calculations, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Maintain engineering documentation, revision control, and design records.

Improve collaboration between design and manufacturing teams through effective 3D modelling and drawing practices.

4. Design for Manufacturing & Cost Optimization

Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives.

Optimize material utilization, component selection, fabrication methods, and assembly processes.

Identify opportunities to improve product performance, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturability without compromising safety or reliability.

Work closely with Production, Purchase, Projects, and Quality teams to improve engineering efficiency.

5. Design Quality & Continuous Improvement

Conduct design reviews, technical risk assessments, and root-cause analysis of engineering issues.

Reduce design errors, manufacturing rework, and site modifications.

Establish first-time-right engineering practices and quality checkpoints.

Drive continuous improvement in design accuracy, engineering productivity, and delivery performance.

6. Team Management & Cross-Functional Coordination

Build, lead, mentor,



and develop a competent design and engineering team.

Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and technical review mechanisms.

Collaborate with Sales, Production, Purchase, Projects, Quality, Installation, and Service teams.

Support technical discussions with customers and resolve complex engineering issues.

Develop a knowledge-sharing culture to strengthen team capability and reduce key-person dependency.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong expertise in EOT crane and material-handling equipment design.

Knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering calculations.

Working knowledge of applicable IS standards, FEM standards, and customer specifications.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, 3D modelling, and AutoCAD.

Strong understanding of GA drawings, detailed engineering, BOM preparation, and manufacturing drawings.

Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), value engineering, and cost optimization.

Robust technical problem-solving, design validation, and root-cause analysis skills.

Proven experience in engineering team leadership and process development.

Excellent coordination, decision-making, and communication skills.

Candidate Profile

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

10–15+ years of relevant experience in EOT cranes, material handling, heavy engineering, or industrial equipment.

Demonstrated experience leading crane design and engineering teams.

Strong understanding of end-to-end crane design, from customer requirements to manufacturing release.

Experience in establishing engineering standards, design libraries, SOPs, and standardized product platforms.

Ability to balance technical accuracy, safety, manufacturing feasibility, cost, and delivery timelines
