About the Role
The Workday Configuration Lead is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and supporting Workday HCM. This is a hands-on configuration role focused on delivering high-quality solutions, resolving complex issues, and supporting ongoing enhancements across the Workday platform. We are seeking candidates with deep expertise in several Workday functional areas. Current priorities include Core HCM, Recruiting, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Payroll, Prism Analytics, and Security, though candidates are not expected to be experts in every domain. This individual will partner closely with HRBPs, HR Product, HR Operations, Analytics, Engineering, and HR COE teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that support our global HR ecosystem.

What You'll Do
Configuration & Solution Delivery:
• Design, build, and maintain Workday configuration with deep ownership in assigned functional areas and a working knowledge of related Workday modules.
• Translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions that align with global design standards.
• Lead functional configuration for enhancements, defect remediation, and semi-annual Workday releases.
• Ensure configuration integrity and change-control alignment across Dev, Test, and Production environments.
• Review and validate configuration changes delivered by offshore and onshore partners.
• Evaluate cross-functional impacts to business processes, reporting, integrations, payroll calculations, and security frameworks. Testing & Quality Assurance:
• Develop and execute test scenarios for enhancements, releases, and new configurations.
• Partner with the broader Digital HR team to ensure appropriate functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test coverage across impacted Workday capabilities.




• Validate business process flows, payroll impacts, reporting outcomes, security access changes, and downstream integration behavior.
• Support tenant-wide testing strategy and release readiness activities. Support & Operations:
• Own Tier 3 functional support within assigned areas of expertise while partnering across the team to support the broader Workday platform.
• Analyze recurring issues and recommend sustainable solutions rather than manual workarounds.
• Maintain functional documentation, configuration guides, security matrices, payroll rules documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Support production issue triage and root-cause analysis activities. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with Digital HR and other HR teams to deliver integrated end-to-end solutions.
• Partner with HR Operations and Global HR teams to understand pain points, gather requirements, and drive process improvements.
• Collaborate with Analytics and Data teams to ensure secure, accurate data flows and reporting solutions using Workday Prism.
• Provide configuration guidance and recommendations to support global process standardization. Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for operational simplification, automation, reporting enhancements, and improved associate experiences.
• Stay current on Workday roadmap updates and Workday Community solutions; recommend adoption where appropriate.
• Contribute to the definition and adoption of Workday configuration standards, security governance, and release management frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across HCM, Recruiting, Payroll, Time, Absence, Security, and Analytics capabilities. What You Bring: Required:
• 5-8 years of hands-on Workday functional configuration experience with a demonstrated ability to independently design, configure, test, troubleshoot, and support complex Workday solutions.
• Deep hands-on configuration experience in two or more Workday functional areas, with familiarity across additional Workday capabilities. Current priority areas: Core HCM, Recruiting, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Payroll, Prism, and Security.
• Strong understanding of Workday business processes, domain security, condition rules, calculated fields, reporting, and configuration dependencies.
• Experience reviewing solution designs and configuration delivered by implementation partners or other team members.
• Experience supporting global Workday environments and high-volume HR operations.
• Ability to translate functional requirements into scalable, supportable solutions.




• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause resolution.
• Comfortable working with distributed teams across US and India time zones. Preferred:
• Experience with end-to-end testing cycles, regression planning, and Workday release management.
• Experience supporting multiple Workday functional areas in a production environment.
• Exposure to Workday integrations and understanding of how functional configuration impacts downstream systems.
• Experience in a fast-paced retail or multi-country environment.
• Workday certifications in one or more relevant functional areas. Success Outcomes:
