About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Quality Engineer to manage quality planning and execution throughout the project lifecycle, from new product development and customer approval to production launch and final handover. The role will work closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, compliance with customer-specific requirements, timely completion of quality deliverables, and readiness for mass production.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Quality Planning
* Develop and maintain project-specific quality plans, inspection plans, and quality deliverables in line with customer requirements.
* Prepare and coordinate APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities and maintain project quality milestones.
* Coordinate the preparation and review of PFMEA, DFMEA inputs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and Process Capability studies.
* Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable automotive quality standards.
* Identify project quality risks and coordinate preventive actions with relevant stakeholders. 2. New Product Development & Launch
* Coordinate quality activities from prototype and sample development through validation, customer approval, and mass-production launch.
* Plan and monitor prototype, pre-launch, and production-stage inspections and testing.
* Coordinate PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and submission, including dimensional reports, material and performance test reports, MSA, SPC, and other applicable requirements.
* Ensure timely closure of customer observations and approval-related open points.
* Verify process readiness and quality documentation before production handover. 3. Cross-Functional Project Coordination
* Work closely with Project Managers, Production, Process Engineering, Design/R&D;, Supplier Quality, Purchase, and Customer Quality teams.
* Track quality-related project milestones, deliverables, risks, and pending actions.




* Participate in project review meetings and provide updates on quality status, delays, risks, and corrective actions.
* Coordinate trial runs, pilot production, engineering changes, and validation activities.
* Ensure changes to drawings, specifications, materials, processes, and tooling are assessed, approved, and documented before implementation. 4. Problem Solving & Corrective Actions
* Lead or coordinate root-cause analysis for project-related defects and launch issues using 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, and other structured problem-solving methods.
* Monitor containment, corrective, and preventive actions and verify their effectiveness.
* Coordinate resolution of dimensional, material, functional, and process-related quality issues.
* Maintain a lessons-learned register and ensure recurring issues are prevented in subsequent projects. 5. Supplier & Customer Quality Coordination
* Coordinate with Supplier Quality and suppliers on new component development, supplier PPAP, sample approval, and supplier-related project issues.
* Support customer audits, process audits, product audits, and quality reviews as required.
* Ensure customer-specific quality documentation and approval requirements are completed on time.
* Facilitate timely closure of customer complaints or concerns associated with new launches and project changes. 6. Production Readiness & Documentation
* Verify availability and completeness of inspection standards, Control Plans, work instructions, gauges, measuring equipment, and quality records before launch.
* Monitor trial production results, first-off inspections, dimensional conformity, and process capability.
* Ensure measurement systems are validated and inspection equipment is calibrated.
* Maintain traceability of samples, inspection results, approvals, deviations, and engineering changes.




* Support safe and controlled transition from project development to regular production. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* On-time completion of project quality milestones and deliverables.
* On-time PPAP submission and customer approval.
* First-pass yield and right-first-time performance during trials and launch.
* Number and severity of launch-related defects and customer complaints.
* Timely closure and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
* Compliance with APQP, Control Plan, PFMEA, and other required quality documentation.
* Supplier quality approval and incoming quality performance for current projects.
* Reduction in repeat defects, rework, and scrap attributable to project or launch issues.
* Audit findings and timely closure of non-conformities.
* Production handover completed with all mandatory quality approvals and documentation. Required Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, or a related engineering discipline.
* 3–6 years of experience in quality engineering within automotive or precision manufacturing.
* Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, 8D, and root-cause analysis.
* Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
* Experience with dimensional inspection, engineering drawings, GD&T;, and measuring instruments.
* Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple project deliverables.
* Robust analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and quality documentation systems. Preferred Experience
* Experience in automotive OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing environments.
* Exposure to new product development, process validation, pilot runs, and mass-production launches.
* Experience with metal components, formed or fabricated parts, machining, wheel/rim assemblies, or similar automotive products.
