Electronic City, Bangalore Work Mode: Hybrid Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Senior Scala/Pekko Engineer with 12+ years of software engineering experience and strong expertise in Scala-based backend development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant distributed systems in cloud-native, event-driven environments. The role requires strong knowledge of Scala, Pekko/Akka, functional programming, microservices, Kafka, and AWS. You will contribute to architectural decisions, develop high-performance backend services, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, highly available backend services in cloud-native and event-driven environments.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient code using Scala, Pekko/Akka, Cats, and Cats Effect.
• Contribute to system architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and API design.
• Implement Event Sourcing, CQRS, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Build and maintain resilient, high-performance APIs and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions using AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases to support application requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Front-End, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.




• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automation, and software delivery processes.
• Work independently within Agile product development teams, taking ownership of technical deliverables.
• Apply critical thinking, communicate effectively, and constructively challenge technical decisions when needed. Required Technical Skills
• Scala: Strong hands-on experience in Scala backend development.
• Pekko/Akka: Experience building concurrent, distributed, and resilient applications.
• Functional Programming: Knowledge of Cats and Cats Effect.
• Distributed Systems: Strong understanding of microservices, fault tolerance, scalability, and high availability.
• Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with Apache Kafka, Event Sourcing, and CQRS.
• Software Design: Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), API design, and architectural best practices.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Databases: Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Engineering Practices: Automated testing, code reviews, observability, performance optimization, and Agile development. Additional

Skills:
Experience with Java and/or Python is an advantage. Required Qualifications
