We build AI for US public-works construction. We also run a public-works construction company, so our software goes onto our own projects and gets used by our own project managers from day one. We know what slows contractors down because we deal with it every week. We’re building an AI operations team for contractors: agents that handle schedules, look-aheads, submittals and bid tracking. Our first product, BuiltWiz, handles scheduling and is being piloted on our own jobs.
About the role
You’d be engineer #2, working directly with me (Anurag, technical co-founder). You’ll make a lot of the core AI decisions here, and you’ll help shape the team as it grows. What you’ll work on
• Fine-tuning and running our own open models. We don’t want the company to depend on someone else’s API.
• Turning messy construction documents (drawings, specs, schedules, RFIs) into data our agents can work with
• Building agent workflows reliable enough that a project manager trusts the output
• Setting up how we evaluate AI quality, starting from zero
• Mentoring the engineers who join after you What we’re looking for
• 6 to 8+ years in ML/AI, with LLM systems you’ve shipped to production
• Hands-on experience with fine-tuning, RAG and evals, beyond prompting
• Comfort working in a small team where you own things end to end
• Someone who’d rather teach than be taught Nice to have
• Experience around construction, engineering or project-heavy industries. It helps a lot, but if you haven’t worked in construction, we’ll get you up to speed.
• Experience with document understanding (PDFs, drawings, scanned files)
What we offer
• Competitive pay plus equity
• Remote to start, then Bangalore
• Real users on real projects from your first week
How to apply
Apply here, or message me directly on LinkedIn. Tell us about one LLM system you shipped and what broke along the way.
