The candidate will be responsible for translating customer requirements into HIL hardware architectures, selecting and configuring suitable hardware modules, developing electrical interfaces and wiring designs, and executing end-to-end HIL system integration, primarily using Vector HIL hardware, I/O cards, and associated technologies. The role requires a combination of system design expertise, practical electrical/electronic engineering skills, and robust troubleshooting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. HIL System Design & Architecture
• Understand customer requirements, ECU interfaces, test specifications, and HIL system requirements.
• Develop HIL hardware architectures, system block diagrams, electrical schematics, interface definitions, and wiring layouts.
• Identify and select suitable Vector hardware modules, I/O cards, signal conditioning units, communication interfaces, and power distribution components.
• Prepare technical BOMs, interface specifications, wiring schedules, connector pinouts, and integration documentation.
• Coordinate with Vector and other technology partners for hardware selection, configuration, and technical integration. 2. Electrical Design & Hardware Integration
• Design ECU interface circuits, power distribution systems, signal routing, protection circuits, and interface panels.
• Develop electrical wiring diagrams, cable harness designs, connector layouts, and rack-level integration drawings.
• Undertake hands-on HIL rack assembly, module installation, electrical wiring, harness preparation, and termination. 3. HIL Configuration & System Development
• Configure and integrate Vector HIL hardware and associated interfaces based on project requirements.
• Support CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, and other relevant automotive communication interfaces.
• Perform signal mapping, I/O configuration, interface verification, and system-level hardware integration.
• Support integration with Vector CANoe, VT System, vTESTstudio, and related tools, as applicable.
• Coordinate with simulation and test automation teams for integration of HIL hardware with real-time simulation and automated testing environments. 4. Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting
• Perform continuity, insulation, grounding, power distribution, and electrical safety checks.
• Conduct hardware bring-up, communication verification, I/O testing, and functional validation.
• Diagnose wiring faults, signal integrity issues, communication failures, hardware configuration problems, and interface mismatches.
• Support system commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and customer acceptance activities.
• Prepare test procedures, validation reports, as-built documentation, and technical handover records. 5. Project Execution & Technical Coordination
• Coordinate with mechanical design, procurement, manufacturing, software, and customer engineering teams.
• Support component sourcing, BOM optimization, vendor technical discussions, and engineering change management.
• Ensure adherence to project quality, delivery schedules, safety requirements, and documentation standards.
• Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of HIL integration processes. Required Technical Skills
• Practical experience in automotive HIL systems, test benches, ECU testing, or embedded hardware validation.
• Working knowledge of Vector VT System hardware, I/O modules, interface cards, and HIL integration architecture.
• Ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and connector pinouts.
• Hands-on experience in electrical panel/rack wiring, cable harnessing, crimping, soldering, and connector termination.
• Understanding of analog/digital I/O, PWM, sensor simulation interfaces, power supplies, relays, and signal conditioning.
• Familiarity with CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and automotive ECU communication fundamentals.
• Proficiency with electrical measurement and diagnostic equipment & Strong analytical skills in hardware debugging, integration, and system troubleshooting. Preferred Additional Skills (Good to Have)
• Experience with Vector CANoe, vTESTstudio, VT System Configuration, and related engineering tools.
• Familiarity with ECU test automation, fault injection, and restbus simulation.
• Experience with electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Python, CAPL, or scripting for HIL configuration and test automation.
• Experience in automotive OEM/Tier-1 HIL development or validation projects.
• Understanding of automotive electrical safety, EMC, grounding, and signal integrity considerations. Desired Candidate Profile We are looking for a practical, solution-oriented engineer who can take ownership of HIL hardware design and integration activities, from requirement interpretation and hardware selection through physical assembly, testing, and commissioning. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on engineering design tools as well as directly on the shop floor or test bench, troubleshooting hardware, wiring, and interface-related issues. Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, technical skill set, relevant experience, and demonstrated capabilities, with consideration for long-term career commitment and professional growth within Nurbs Labs.
