About the Role
VP Automobiles is looking for an innovative and result-oriented R&D; Design Engineer to develop new agricultural equipment, improve existing products, and convert design concepts into commercially viable products. The candidate will be responsible for the complete product development cycle, from concept design and prototyping to testing, production readiness, and commercialization.

Key Responsibilities
• New Product Development: Design and develop new agricultural implements, equipment, trolleys, and other farm machinery based on market requirements.
• 3D Design & Engineering: Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed engineering specifications using CAD software.
• Prototyping & Testing: Develop prototypes, conduct field and performance testing, identify design issues, and implement necessary improvements.
• Product Commercialization: Coordinate with production, procurement, and quality teams to convert prototypes into commercially viable, mass-producible products.
• Cost Optimization: Reduce manufacturing costs through design optimization, material selection, and component standardization without compromising product quality or strength.
• Wastage Reduction: Identify and minimize material wastage during cutting, fabrication, welding, and assembly through efficient design and manufacturing practices.
• Design Improvement: Improve existing products for durability, performance, ease of manufacturing, serviceability, and customer satisfaction.
• Manufacturing Support:



Work closely with production teams to resolve design-related issues and ensure smooth implementation on the shop floor.
• Documentation: Maintain design records, BOMs (Bills of Materials), technical drawings, test reports, and product development documentation.
• Market Research: Study competitor products, emerging agricultural technologies, and farmer requirements to identify recent product opportunities. Required Qualifications & Skills
• Diploma or B.
E./B.
Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in R&D;, product design, or new product development, preferably in agricultural machinery or equipment manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo.
• Knowledge of fabrication, welding, sheet metal, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of material selection, strength calculations, and cost estimation.
• Practical experience in prototype development, testing, and design optimization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work closely with production teams. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Number of new products developed and successfully commercialized.
• Reduction in material consumption and manufacturing wastage.
• Reduction in product manufacturing cost.
• Prototype development and product launch timelines.
• Improvement in product quality, durability, and manufacturability. Preferred Candidate Candidates with hands-on experience in agricultural equipment, tractor implements, trolley manufacturing, or heavy fabrication will be preferred.
