Domain BA — Instruments & Products Positions: 2 seats — CPI / Compounding / Matched Funding / Call Accounts / Deposits / Structured Products |
Location:
Offshore | Reports to: Functional Lead | Focus: The Bank's proprietary SA instrument IP through treasury-style call / deposit and structured / standard lending ROLE PURPOSE Own the Bank's lending and deposit instrument families end-to-end — from the most proprietary SA instrument IP (CPI-linked, SA-compounding and match-funding) through treasury-style call / notice / deposit products and structured / standard lending, including which are ACBS-fit versus proprietary. In Discovery, extract, document and SME-validate their functional and calculation logic and shape their disposition, specifications and parity targets; through delivery, carry the same logic into build specifications, parity validation, ACBS consolidation and migration. BUSINESS AREAS OWNED
• CPI-linked loans and annuities (CPI bonds, CPI annuity streams); CPI indexation and JSE compounding conventions.
• SA-specific compounding conventions across lending instruments; average-rate and reference-rate accrual instruments.
• Match funding / asset-to-funding at profile level (matched average / index / preference instruments, TS funding accounts, linked loan-deposit); auto-creation of funding legs; mesh instruments (internal funding); flexible and index-linked instruments.
• Call and notice accounts (call bond-buyer, call deposit, call loan, notice deposit, notice-index deposit); daily rate-setting and Call Dealer logic; flow-of-funds / mandated-distribution accounts.
• Evergreen (open-ended tenor) deposits; fixed and term deposits; periodic fixed deposits with bespoke reset and rounding.
• Structured / syndicated and bilateral lending; term loans; preference shares; cash-flow and fee streams (cashflow streams, fee streams, coupons); illiquid bonds managed as loans (no daily pricing).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Produce the Instrument Coverage Map for these groups — codes / families, ACBS gap rationale (standard-lending fit vs proprietary call / deposit and SA-bespoke behaviour), business criticality and volumes.
• Document the Functional Rule Base for indexation, compounding, average-rate accrual, match-funding automation, rate-setting, notice / call mechanics, deposit reset, fee / cashflow waterfalls and bond-as-loan servicing — validated through SME playback.
• Recommend the 5R disposition — primary rebuild candidates for SA-bespoke and proprietary call / deposit behaviour; Retire-to-ACBS-v8 for standard lending — and feed the Functional Lead's consolidation.
• Write Functional Service Specifications (instrument-specific valuation / accrual rules, inputs / outputs, data ownership) and author Golden Scenarios for CPI, funding, call, deposit and structured cases with tolerance-based parity targets reflecting JSE compounding conventions.
• Turn the validated rules into build specifications for the SA bespoke-instruments and deposits / call-accounts / structured-lending squads (including Call Dealer rebuild and rate-setting); support ACBS consolidation of standard-lending instruments.
• Own parity validation against agreed tolerances through parallel run, and support migration and cutover for these instrument families across the relevant waves. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Deep, hands-on Commercial Lending business knowledge (essential); Structured Lending experience a strong plus. Working understanding of Murex; ACBS / LoanIQ product knowledge desirable; South African lending market knowledge a nice-to-have.
• 7+ years BA / functional analysis in banking, with hands-on exposure to interest-calculation, indexation or structured-funding logic and to deposits, money-market / call products and syndicated / structured lending.
• Numerate and calculation-literate; defines rounding, day-count and compounding rules precisely and works to tolerances rather than byte-for-byte equivalence; understands product lifecycle, rate-setting, accruals and fee / cashflow mechanics and distinguishes COTS-fit from bespoke behaviour.
• Strong requirements elicitation and SME-playback skills; rigorous, source-traceable documentation carried into build specifications.
• Secondary market for commercial loans / deals and the capital-market functions around them — syndication, participations and secondary trading. Desirable. South African markets / CPI-linked product experience; ALM or treasury-funding background; money-markets / treasury product background; prior deposits or syndicated-lending platform work.
