About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned and strategic Data Networks professional to lead the design, deployment, and continuous evolution of our enterprise network infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of network engineering, cloud connectivity, and cybersecurity — making it ideal for a technology leader who thrives in complex, multi-site, hybrid cloud environments.

You will own the end-to-end network strategy, oversee a team of network engineers and architects, and work closely with security, cloud, and application teams to ensure resilient, high-performance connectivity across on-premises and cloud platforms. You will be the primary decision-maker for network architecture, vendor relationships, and capital planning within this domain.

Key Responsibilities

Network Strategy & Architecture

Define and drive the long-term enterprise network roadmap aligned with business growth, cloud-first strategy, and digital transformation initiatives.

Architect scalable, high-availability network solutions spanning LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, and multi-cloud interconnects (AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, GCP Interconnect).

Lead capacity planning, topology design, and technology refresh cycles to ensure the network scales ahead of business demand.

Evaluate and introduce emerging networking technologies including SASE, zero-trust network access (ZTNA), and intent-based networking (IBN).

Cloud Infrastructure & Connectivity

Design and govern hybrid and multi-cloud network architectures integrating on-premises data centres with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

Oversee cloud networking components including VPCs/VNets, transit gateways, cloud firewalls, load balancers, and private peering connections.

Collaborate with cloud platform and DevOps teams to implement network-as-code practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and cloud-native SDKs.

Ensure consistent network performance, observability, and cost optimisation across cloud and on-premises environments.

IT & Network Security

Partner with the CISO and Security Operations team to embed security-by-design principles across all network infrastructure layers.

Oversee implementation and lifecycle management of next-generation firewalls (NGFW), IDS/IPS,

network access control (NAC), DDoS mitigation, and micro-segmentation.

Drive adoption of zero-trust architecture (ZTA) frameworks, enforcing least-privilege access controls at the network edge and within cloud workloads.

Lead vulnerability management, network risk assessments, and remediation in collaboration with the security team; ensure readiness for audits and compliance programmes (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, PCI-DSS).

Develop and maintain network security policies, standards, and runbooks; ensure adherence across all geographies and business units.

Operations, Reliability & Performance

Establish and enforce SLAs for network uptime, latency, throughput, and packet loss across critical business systems and applications.

Lead the Network Operations Centre (NOC) function, ensuring 24x7 monitoring, incident response, and escalation protocols are mature and well-documented.

Drive continuous improvement in MTTR and MTBF metrics through root cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and proactive problem management.

Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all network services.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Build and manage a high-performing team (3rd party) of network engineers, architects, and operations specialists.

Set transparent goals, conduct performance reviews, and create development pathways to grow technical talent within the team.

Act as the senior technical authority in cross-functional discussions with IT leadership, cloud teams, security, application owners, and external vendors.

Manage strategic vendor relationships (Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper, Zscaler, etc.), including contract negotiations and service reviews.

Prepare and manage the network infrastructure budget, including CAPEX and OPEX forecasting.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience

10 – 12 years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering and architecture, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership or management role.

Demonstrated experience architecting and operating hybrid cloud network environments across two or more major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-site networks serving 2,000+ users or equivalent complexity.

Strong hands-on background in network security — firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, NAC, and zero-trust implementations.

Experience leading teams of 5+ engineers and managing vendor relationships and infrastructure budgets.

Technical Skills

Deep expertise in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLANs, STP, and QoS. Routing & Switching:

Hands-on experience with SD-WAN platforms (Cisco Viptela, VMware VeloCloud, or equivalent). SD-WAN & WAN:

AWS (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect), Azure (VNet, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall), GCP (VPC, Cloud Interconnect). Cloud Networking:

NGFW (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco), ZTNA, SASE, NAC, micro-segmentation, DDoS protection. Network Security:

Proficiency in Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting for network automation; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. Automation & Tooling:

Experience with tools such as SolarWinds, Grafana, Splunk, NetFlow/sFlow analysis, and SNMP. Monitoring & Observability:

Spine-leaf architecture, VXLAN, ACI/EVPN, and hyperconverged infrastructure networking. Data Centre Networking:

Certifications (Required / Preferred)

CCIE (Routing & Switching or Enterprise Infrastructure) — required, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

CCNP Enterprise, Juniper JNCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certification.

AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty / Azure Network Engineer Associate / GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer — at least one preferred.

CISSP, CCNP Security, or Palo Alto PCNSE — preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is an advantage.

Leadership & Behavioural Competencies

Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable network solutions.

Solid communicator capable of presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical executives and board members.

Data-driven decision-maker with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.

Collaborative leader who fosters cross-functional partnerships across IT, security, cloud, and business units.

Resilient and composed under pressure, with a strong customer-service mindset during high-severity incidents.
