Mathematics Pod Lead

About the role
Lead a pod of 5 to 10 trainers developing terminal-based mathematics tasks for AI training and evaluation. Ensure mathematical rigor, reproducibility and reliable automated grading.

Responsibilities
• Review problem statements, datasets, environments, reference solutions and automated tests.
• Validate correctness, convergence, stability, conditioning, error bounds and edge cases.
• Review graders using residuals, feasibility, optimality certificates, invariants or proof checking.
• Ensure reproducible computations and prevent hard-coded answers or test leakage.
• Mentor trainers, provide precise feedback, allocate work and monitor quality.

Requirements
• Ph.D., postdoctoral experience or equivalent advanced experience in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics or a related field.
• Strong Python, Julia, C/C++,



MATLAB/Octave or computer algebra skills; Linux and terminal proficiency.
• Hands-on numerical methods, scientific computing, symbolic computation, optimization, computational statistics or mathematical modeling experience.
• Ability to evaluate derivations, algorithms, proofs and computational results.
• Experience reviewing technical work and leading small research teams, with solid written communication.

Preferred
NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, SageMath, ODE/PDE tools, CVXPY, JuMP or proof assistants such as Lean; Docker, Git, automated testing, benchmarks or AI evaluation experience.
