Role Description

Engineer is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the banks overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration. It may also involve taking functional oversight of engineering delivery for specific departments. Work includes:

- Planning and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals
- Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions
- Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow
- Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability
- Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.

Your key responsibilities

- As part of the cards team for Germany, you will actively participate in the design and development of solutions aligned to business goals
- You will be translating the business and functional requirements into a technical solution design
- You will be managing the implementation, jointly together with our vendors, supporting the testing activities and ensure a handover into production and to the L2-Support.
- You will ensure, that the solution designs are aligned to our technical platform modernization strategy.
- To ensure a secure and maintainable production environment, you will be the Subject Mater Expert as part of the L3 Support.
- In case of incidents and business requests, you will be actively involved in the incident and request analysis and drive the problem resolution.

Your skills and experience

- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in Java solution design and software development.
- Strong development experience with Java and Spring Boot.




- Practical knowledge of software design patterns and anti-patterns, particularly within Java and Spring Boot applications.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming APIs and microservices.
- Proven experience integrating internal and external web services using SOAP, XML, REST, and JSON.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with cloud development frameworks and platforms, including Spring Cloud.
- Practical experience configuring and deploying applications using OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Experience with DevOps and engineering tools, including Git, TeamCity, Maven, and Sonar.
- Knowledge and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pair working, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Has practical and applied knowledge of design patterns (and anti-patterns) in Java in general and Java Spring Boot specifically
- Familiar with Agile Team management tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Pro-active team player with good communication skills as well as good English language skills.
- Experience with Agile/SCRUM environment including agile tooling and methodology together with knowledge of cards.
- Bachelors degree from a college or university with an focus on IT or data evaluation and / or comparable professional experience

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
