Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations for our freight forwarding business. The candidate should have experience in accounting, GST compliance, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and freight forwarding-related financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities1. Day-to-Day Accounting

- Maintain books of accounts and record daily financial transactions.
- Prepare and maintain sales invoices, purchase bills, payment vouchers, and receipt vouchers.
- Record and verify freight, transportation, customs clearance, shipping line, and other logistics-related expenses.
- Maintain customer-wise and vendor-wise ledgers.

2. Accounts Receivable & Payable

- Monitor customer outstanding balances and follow up for overdue payments.
- Process vendor payments and verify supplier invoices against job files and supporting documents.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts.
- Coordinate with the operations team to ensure timely invoicing and accurate cost allocation for each shipment.

3. GST & Tax Compliance

- Handle GST-related accounting, input tax credit reconciliation, and GST return data preparation.
- Verify GST invoices and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with TDS calculations, deductions, payments, and return preparation.
- Coordinate with the auditor or Chartered Accountant for GST, income tax, and statutory compliance.

4. Banking & Financial Operations

- Perform bank reconciliation and monitor bank transactions.
- Track customer remittances, foreign currency receipts, bank charges, and overseas vendor payments.
- Verify foreign exchange differences and intermediary bank deductions.
- Assist in preparing payment statements, cash flow reports,



and bank-related documents.

5. Freight Forwarding Accounting

- Maintain shipment-wise income and expense records.
- Verify freight invoices, shipping line charges, airline charges, customs clearance expenses, transport bills, and overseas agent invoices.
- Prepare job profitability reports and identify discrepancies between estimated and actual shipment costs.
- Coordinate with overseas agents and customers regarding debit notes, credit notes, and payment discrepancies.

6. Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare accounts receivable and payable ageing reports.
- Assist in monthly profit and loss statements and management reports.
- Maintain proper accounting records and documents for audit purposes.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Required Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, or a related industry.
- Positive knowledge of Tally Prime, MS Excel, and accounting software.
- Practical knowledge of GST, TDS, bank reconciliation, and accounts receivable/payable.
- Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and overseas agent settlements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines.
- Preferred Candidate ProfilePrior experience in a freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Knowledge of shipment-wise costing and job profitability.
- Experience handling customer collections, vendor payments, and foreign remittances.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accountability.
