BTL India is looking for a System Test Engineer to verify product-level requirements and ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of embedded products throughout the product development lifecycle. The role focuses on system-level functional testing, requirement-based test design, risk-informed test coverage, and effective defect management. Experience in the medical device or healthcare domain is preferred, but not mandatory.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the medical product testing team, you will plan, identify, and execute system-level testing activities in an embedded product development environment to meet project goals through the following actions:
- Understand the complete product development lifecycle and the product’s intended use, features, operating modes, and system behavior.
- Review and analyze product requirements and software requirements to identify test conditions, expected results, and acceptance criteria.
- Design, review, execute, and maintain clear, robust test cases for system-level and functional verification.
- Apply black-box test design techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary-value analysis, decision-table testing, and state-transition testing where appropriate.
- Understand the risk management process and use product risks, hazardous situations, risk controls, and risk-control verification needs to guide test-case design and test coverage.
- Maintain bidirectional traceability between requirements, risks/risk controls where applicable, test cases, and test results using a test management tool.
- Plan and execute system-level, functional, and integration tests; document results and report deviations clearly.
- Manage defects through the defect lifecycle, collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams on investigation, and verify fixes.
- Identify test coverage gaps, challenge the design through effective test scenarios, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Follow applicable safety, quality, and regulatory processes and support project delivery milestones.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCY: (ESSENTIALS)
- 4–5 years of qualified experience in system testing of embedded products.
- Practical experience in requirement analysis, test-case design, test execution, defect reporting, and test closure.
- Good understanding of product development and structured verification processes.
- Working knowledge of risk-based testing and the ability to translate identified risks and risk controls into suitable verification scenarios.
- Strong understanding of black-box test design techniques and test coverage principles.
- Experience with Jira or an equivalent defect-tracking tool.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE (DESIRABLES)
- Experience in medical device/healthcare domain and familiarity with medical industry standards is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience using Test management tools such as Codebeamer or Doors for requirement traceability.
- Working knowledge of agile development methodologies.
- Basic exposure to scripting or test automation (e.g. Python) for embedded environments.
