The Shift In-Charge - DM &

- RO Plant / CPU / Water Treatment is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted operation of the Demineralization (DM) Plant, Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant, Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU), and associated water treatment systems to meet the water quality and quantity requirements of the thermal power plant. The role involves shift operations, process monitoring, troubleshooting, manpower management, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

- Operate and monitor DM Plant, RO Plant, CPU, Clarifier, Filter House, and associated water treatment systems during shift operations.
- Ensure continuous supply of treated water to the Boiler Feed Water System as per plant requirements.
- Monitor critical operating parameters such as conductivity, silica, pH, hardness, sodium, turbidity, TOC, and dissolved oxygen.
- Maintain optimum performance of ion exchange units, RO membranes, CPU vessels, pumps, and dosing systems.
- Ensure smooth startup, shutdown, regeneration, and backwashing activities of water treatment equipment.

Process Control &

- Monitoring

- Analyze process trends and initiate corrective actions for deviations.
- Ensure adherence to specified water chemistry parameters for boiler and turbine operation.
- Monitor chemical dosing systems and optimize chemical consumption.
- Coordinate with Chemistry, Operations,



and Maintenance teams to ensure reliable plant operation.
- Maintain operational logs and shift reports accurately.

Maintenance Coordination

- Identify equipment abnormalities and coordinate with maintenance teams for timely corrective actions.
- Participate in planned shutdowns and overhauls of water treatment facilities.
- Monitor health of pumps, valves, instruments, analyzers, and rotating equipment.
- Ensure availability of consumables and critical spares.

Safety &

- Compliance

- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, SOPs, and permit-to-work systems.
- Implement safe handling and storage practices for chemicals such as HCl, NaOH, Antiscalants, Coagulants, Chlorine, and other water treatment chemicals.
- Promote protected work culture and participate in safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and wastewater discharge norms.

Team Management

- Supervise shift operators and field personnel.
- Allocate jobs and monitor execution during shifts.
- Provide operational guidance and training to team members.
- Ensure discipline, productivity, and effective shift handovers.

Reporting &

- Documentation

- Prepare and review shift reports, operational records, and incident reports.
- Maintain water quality records and operational KPI dashboards.
- Support management with performance analysis and improvement initiatives.
