Role Overview The Senior Manager, ARL Cleanroom Infrastructure is a hands-on operational role responsible for the physical setup, commissioning, and day-to-day excellence of the ARL cleanroom. Working closely with outside vendors, particularly NICOMAC, this in-house consultant manages the bring-up phase, ensuring equipment installation, safety compliance, and vendor coordination are executed flawlessly.
Why This Role Matters The successful bring-up of the ARL cleanroom is critical to our infrastructure roadmap. The Senior Manager is the on-the-ground driver who turns facility plans into operational reality, ensuring cleanrooms are built to spec, vendors deliver on time, and the facility meets required standards. Without focused execution at this level, the facility setup and integration stalls.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong, on-the-ground relationships with external cleanroom construction vendors, specifically NICOMAC, as well as global equipment vendors.
- Coordinate with vendors for AMC negotiations, spare parts prioritization, and service escalations to ensure the cleanroom remains operational.
- Act as the primary on-site manager for vendor contracts, ensuring all agreements remain cost-effective and meet performance-backed metrics.
- Engage operationally with institutional partners and industry collaborators to sustain facility capabilities during the bring-up phase.
- Help benchmark the ARL facility's operational performance against top-tier institutions and national networks to ensure it meets required standards.
ARL Cleanroom Bring-Up & Facility Setup
- Directly manage the day-to-day physical setup, commissioning, and bring-up of the ARL cleanroom in close collaboration with outside vendors like NICOMAC.
- Integrate the new ARL cleanroom capabilities with existing facility assets (such as existing nanofabrication or packaging labs) to create a seamless, multi-purpose workplace.
- Execute cleanroom equipment procurement and installation on the floor with precision.
- Strictly manage setup timelines, handle daily vendor coordination, and ensure absolute compliance with EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards for hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related semiconductor discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience managing semiconductor fabrication facilities, cleanroom setups, or equivalent R&D; infrastructure.
- Demonstrated track record in vendor negotiations, AMC management, and EHS compliance for nanofabrication environments.
- Prior experience coordinating with construction vendors (like NICOMAC) and equipment suppliers.
- Proven ability to manage timelines, budgets, and operational setups in a cleanroom context.
