We are looking for a Night News Writer who can work independently during the US news cycle and help keep FandomWire's audience updated with the latest breaking and developing entertainment stories.

As a Night News Writer, you will be responsible for identifying relevant entertainment news as it breaks, researching and verifying the information, writing concise news articles, and eventually taking complete ownership of the publishing process.

The role will initially involve support from our Content Heads, particularly around story selection, headline framing, and editorial direction. As you become familiar with FandomWire's editorial standards and workflow, you will be expected to operate independently and handle the process from sourcing a story to publishing the finished article.

The ideal candidate is someone who understands the fast-paced nature of digital news, can identify worthwhile stories without being prompted, and is comfortable working independently during late-night hours.

Daily Responsibilities:

- Monitor the US entertainment news cycle and identify breaking and developing stories relevant to FandomWire.
- Independently source and identify news stories from credible and relevant sources.
- Research stories thoroughly and verify facts before publication.
- Write 4 short-form news articles per shift, generally between 350–450 words.
- Cover breaking news across movies, television, streaming, celebrities, Hollywood, pop culture, and related entertainment topics.
- Write clear, concise, engaging, and factually accurate news copy.
- Frame relevant and compelling headlines in line with FandomWire's editorial and SEO guidelines.




- Initially work with Content Heads for headline framing and editorial feedback, while progressively taking over these responsibilities independently.
- Take ownership of the end-to-end publishing process, including sourcing, researching, writing, formatting, optimizing, and publishing articles.
- Ensure articles meet FandomWire's standards for grammar, factual accuracy, formatting, sourcing, SEO, and internal linking.
- Work independently during the night shift and make sound editorial decisions with minimal supervision.
- Stay alert to developing stories and updates that may require an existing article to be revised or updated.

Preferred Experience:

- Previous experience as an entertainment news writer, digital news writer, or similar editorial role.
- Strong understanding of the US entertainment industry and news cycle.
- Excellent research, fact-checking, and source evaluation skills.
- Robust command of written English, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Ability to work quickly and consistently while maintaining editorial quality.
- Good understanding of digital publishing, SEO, headlines, and content optimization.
- Ability to work independently and identify stories without relying on an assigned topic list.

Candidates with the following experience will be preferred:

- Experience in a similar role where they were responsible for independently sourcing news stories and self-publishing articles.
- Prior experience managing the complete editorial workflow, from identifying a story to publishing it.
- Proficiency with WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) and experience formatting and publishing articles directly in WordPress.
- Experience working on a digital entertainment/news publication with a fast-paced publishing cycle.
- Familiarity with Google Discover/Google News-oriented content practices is an added advantage.
