Role: Application / Development Architect
Experience Level: 5 to 7 Years of relevant experience
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: India Remote
Department: Software Engineering / Architecture
Role OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Application / Development Architect with 5 to 7 years of relevant experience to spearhead the modernization of legacy enterprise systems. In this role, you will lead technical roadmaps to refactor and migrate mission-critical legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET 10 microservices and distributed workloads.
You will design containerized runtimes on Linux, orchestrate workloads using Amazon EKS, implement event-driven and compute pipelines using AWS Lambda and AWS Batch, and establish robust automated CI/CD delivery workflows. The ideal candidate combines hands-on engineering depth with architectural leadership to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-native architectures.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Strategy &
- Modernization
- Architect and execute application modernization strategies to transition legacy monolithic .NET Framework applications (4.x/WCF/ASMX/ASP.NET MVC) to modern .NET 10 cross-platform architectures.
- Redesign monolithic systems into modular, API-first microservices, distributed batch jobs, and event-driven patterns.
- Conduct code-level architectural assessments, evaluate dependencies/NuGet compatibility, establish migration wave plans, and remove platform-specific constraints (e.g., Windows registry, GAC, machine-specific COM interop).
Containerization & • Cloud Native Architecture (AWS)
- Containerize .NET services using Docker running on lightweight, hardened Linux base images (e.g., Alpine/Chiseled images).
- Design and implement high-availability container orchestration solutions using Amazon EKS (Kubernetes), including ingress routing,
service mesh integration, HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaling), and cluster resource management.
- Architect compute-specific workloads across AWS Batch (for high-throughput batch and data processing jobs) and AWS Lambda (for serverless, event-driven components).
- Integrate core AWS cloud services (Amazon SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora/RDS, EventBridge, IAM Roles for Service Accounts - IRSA).
CI/CD, DevOps & • Automation
- Design and maintain end-to-end continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline/ArgoCD.
- Enforce automated quality gates: static code analysis (SonarQube), container security/vulnerability scanning (Trivy, Amazon ECR scanning), unit/integration testing baselines, and deployment verification.
- Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards utilizing Terraform or AWS CDK.
Technical Leadership & • Governance
- Establish best practices around cross-platform .NET development, asynchronous programming, observability (OpenTelemetry, AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray), and Zero-Trust cloud security.
- Mentor development squads, conduct architectural spike reviews, and author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
- Collaborate with product owners, enterprise architects, and site reliability engineers (SRE) to ensure compliance with enterprise SLAs, RTO/RPO objectives, and FinOps benchmarks.
Required Qualifications & • Technical Skills
- Experience:
5 to 7 years of progressive software engineering and application architecture experience in enterprise environments.
- Core .NET Expertise:
- Deep proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem (.NET Framework 4.x and up-to-date .NET Core / .NET 8 / .NET 10).
- Proven track record of refactoring legacy components: replacing WCF/Remoting with gRPC or RESTful APIs, migrating Entity Framework to EF Core, and updating configuration management.
- Linux & • Containers:
- Extensive hands-on experience packaging, optimizing, and debugging .NET applications on Linux-based Docker containers.
- Production experience with Amazon EKS / Kubernetes (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, Pod Identity/IRSA).
- AWS Serverless & • Compute Services:
- Strong working knowledge of designing workloads with AWS Lambda and orchestrating large-scale computational or scheduled processing using AWS Batch.
- DevOps & • Delivery:
- Strong experience engineering production-grade CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, container image packaging, and progressive cluster deployment (Blue/Green, Canary).
- Fundamentals:
- Solid mastery of Object-Oriented Design, Microservices Design Patterns, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Distributed Caching, and REST/gRPC API standards.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with modern .NET distributed application orchestration frameworks such as .NET Aspire.
- Familiarity with GitOps paradigms using ArgoCD or Flux on Kubernetes.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Exposure to database migration strategies (SQL Server modernization to PostgreSQL/Amazon Aurora).
