Responsibilities

Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient and scalable features for Toast’s enterprise management products.

Lead complex projects that improve product functionality and customer reliability.

Build backend services and APIs that scale across distributed systems.

Develop automated tests and ensure the quality of engineering changes.

Roll out features to customers and monitor their success in production.

Collaborate with UX, Product Management, and teams across Toast on feature definition and design.

Mentor and coach other engineers.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience building backend services and APIs.
- Extensive experience with an object-oriented language such as Java or Kotlin.
- Deep understanding of testing, quality, engineering best practices, production services, platform stability, and reliability.




- Experience scaling distributed systems and balancing delivery with platform stability.
- Strong cross-team communication skills for complex technical topics.
- Experience building Android applications with Kotlin is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a shared codebase.
