Job Title: Shift In-Charge - Maintenance (Hospital)

Job Summary

The Shift In-Charge - Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance activities during assigned shifts to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations. The role ensures availability and proper functioning of critical systems such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas systems, and backup power. The position plays a vital role in maintaining patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1.Shift Operations Management

- Supervise maintenance technicians and shift staff.
- Ensure smooth functioning of all engineering systems during the shift.
- Monitor control panels, generators, HVAC, and utility systems.

2.Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

- Implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Respond to breakdown calls and emergency repair requests.
- Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.

3.Critical Systems Monitoring

- Oversee diesel generators, UPS systems, and electrical panels.
- Monitor HVAC systems in critical areas (OT, ICU, NICU).
- Ensure proper functioning of plumbing and water supply systems.
- Monitor medical gas pipeline systems (MGPS).

1. Emergency Handling
- Lead emergency response during power failures or equipment breakdown.
- Coordinate with biomedical and clinical teams during technical issues.




- Ensure backup systems are activated when required.

5.Compliance & Safety

- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and hospital policies.
- Maintain logbooks and statutory compliance records.
- Support accreditation audits (NABH/JCI if applicable).

1. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain daily shift logs and incident reports.
- Record equipment downtime and maintenance activities.
- Handover pending issues to the next shift in-charge.

- Vendor & Contractor Supervision

- Supervise contractors during assigned shifts.
- Ensure quality and safety compliance of external vendors.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Diploma / Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in hospital or large facility maintenance.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, generators, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts including nights.
- Robust troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
