Job Description - Retail Pharmacist :

- Position : Pharmacist
- Employment Type : Full-time

Key Responsibilities

- Dispensing & Patient Care :

- Accurately dispense prescription and OTC medicines as per the doctor’s prescription.

- Counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, and side effects of medications.

- Advise on health, lifestyle, and minor ailments where appropriate.

- Compliance & Legal :

- Ensure compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Pharmacy Act, 1948.

- Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions, drug registers (especially Schedule H, H1, X drugs).

- Ensure that only licensed pharmacists handle dispensing.

- Inventory & Operations :

- Manage stock levels, check expiry dates, and ensure availability of essential medicines.

- Place purchase orders with vendors/wholesalers as required.

- Maintain storage conditions (temperature, humidity) as per regulatory standards.

- Customer Service :

- Provide excellent service and build trust with customers.

- Handle billing, insurance claims (if applicable), and resolve queries professionally.

- Quality & Safety :

- Ensure medicines are stored safely and dispensed accurately.

- Monitor for drug interactions, contraindications, and duplicate therapy.

- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements :

- Educational Qualification : Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized institution.

- License : Must be a Registered Pharmacist with the State Pharmacy Council of KERALA.

- Experience : Minimum 1-2 years in a retail/community pharmacy preferred (freshers with good knowledge may also apply).

- Skills :

- Solid knowledge of medicines, interactions, and pharmacy law.

- Excellent communication & customer service skills.

- Attention to detail, accuracy, and ethical practice.

- Basic computer knowledge (billing software, MS Office).
