Job Summary

Responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the cinema theatre. Ensure the protected and reliable functioning of electrical installations, lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and other electrical equipment to support smooth theatre operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of electrical panels, distribution boards (DBs), circuit breakers, switches, sockets, and wiring.
- Attend electrical complaints, faults, and breakdowns promptly.
- Maintain and repair lighting fixtures, LED lights, emergency lights, and exit signboards.
- Check electrical connections, cables, earthing systems, and protective devices.
- Replace defective electrical components as instructed by the Electrical Supervisor.

Cinema Theatre Operations

- Ensure proper functioning of lights in auditoriums, corridors, staircases, washrooms, lobbies, ticket counters, and parking areas.
- Check auditorium lighting and emergency lighting before the first movie show.
- Attend electrical issues during movie shows and interval periods.
- Coordinate with projection, HVAC, housekeeping, and operations teams for electrical maintenance requirements.
- Ensure electrical equipment in food courts, offices, and other common areas operates safely.

DG Set and Backup Power

- Assist in the operation and routine inspection of diesel generator (DG) sets and UPS systems.
- Check battery condition, indicator readings, and basic operating parameters as assigned.
- Monitor changeover panels and backup power systems.
- Report abnormalities in voltage, current, temperature, noise, or equipment performance to the Electrical Supervisor.

Safety and Compliance

- Follow electrical safety procedures and instructions issued by the Electrical Supervisor.
- Isolate power supplies before carrying out authorized maintenance work.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulated tools.




- Display warning signs and barricades when required.
- Never undertake live electrical work unless specifically authorized and permitted under applicable safety requirements.
- Report exposed wires, damaged cables, overheating, burning smells, and other electrical hazards immediately.

Documentation and Housekeeping

- Maintain daily maintenance checklists and breakdown records.
- Record completed preventive maintenance activities.
- Inform the Electrical Supervisor about spare parts and consumables required.
- Keep electrical rooms, panels, and work areas clean and accessible.
- Ensure electrical panels are not obstructed and are kept secured as required.

Qualifications and Experience

- ITI in Electrical or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Experience in a cinema theatre, multiplex, shopping mall, hotel, or commercial building is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, LT panels, DBs, MCBs, MCCBs, earthing, lighting systems, DG sets, and UPS systems.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

- Timely completion of preventive maintenance.
- Prompt response to electrical breakdowns and complaints.
- Reliable operation of theatre lighting and electrical equipment.
- Compliance with electrical safety procedures.
- Accurate maintenance records and checklists.
- Cleanliness and safety of electrical rooms and work areas.

Working Conditions

- Rotational shifts based on cinema operating hours.
- Availability during movie shows and emergency breakdowns as required.
- Coordination with the housekeeping, operations, projection, HVAC, and security teams.
- All electrical work must be performed within the technician's training, authorization, and applicable licensing requirements.
