Leather Bag Sample Coordinator cum In-Charge

About the Role:

Stichwell Exports Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced and technically sound Leather Bag Sample Coordinator cum In-Charge to manage and supervise the complete sample development process for leather bags and related leather goods. The ideal candidate must have strong practical knowledge of leather bag construction, pattern development, cutting, stitching, finishing, and sample preparation, along with the ability to coordinate with designers, merchandisers, production teams, and quality control.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that samples are developed accurately according to buyer specifications, approved designs, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sample Development & Execution

- Manage the complete sample development process for leather handbags, shoulder bags, totes, backpacks, and other leather bag styles.
- Coordinate the development of prototypes, buyer samples, counter samples, and pre-production samples.
- Ensure samples are prepared according to approved designs, measurements, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Identify technical difficulties during sample development and provide practical solutions.

2. Technical Knowledge & Product Construction

- Possess strong hands-on knowledge of leather bag construction, pattern making, cutting, skiving, folding, stitching, edge finishing, and assembly.
- Understand leather selection, lining, reinforcements, fittings, zippers, buckles, handles, straps, and other bag components.
- Check patterns, measurements, construction methods, and component placement before sample execution.
- Guide the team on suitable construction techniques and improvements in workmanship.

Team Management & Supervision

- Supervise sample makers, pattern makers, cutters, stitchers, and finishing personnel.
- Allocate work, monitor daily progress, and ensure timely completion of samples.
- Guide team members in technical execution, workmanship, and problem-solving.
- Maintain discipline, productivity, and quality standards within the sample department.

4. Coordination with Design & Merchandising

- Work closely with designers and merchandisers to understand buyer requirements and product specifications.
- Clarify technical details before starting sample development.
- Coordinate revisions based on buyer feedback and ensure samples are modified accurately.
- Maintain effective communication regarding sample status, pending approvals, and delivery schedules.

5. Material & Accessories Coordination

- Coordinate with the purchase and stores departments for timely availability of leather, lining, fittings, accessories, and other materials.
- Ensure materials used in samples match the required specifications and approved standards.
- Minimise material wastage and control sample development costs.

6. Quality Control

- Inspect samples at different stages of development.
- Ensure accuracy of dimensions, stitching, construction, finishing, appearance, and functionality.
- Identify defects and implement corrective measures before sample submission.
- Ensure that approved samples can be translated into bulk production without unnecessary technical difficulties.

7. Planning, Records & Reporting

- Prepare and monitor sample development schedules.
- Maintain records of samples developed, pending samples, revisions, approvals, and delivery dates.




- Track sample completion against buyer deadlines and report delays to management.
- Recommend improvements in sample room productivity, processes, and quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

- Graduate or diploma holder preferred; candidates with strong practical technical expertise will also be considered.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in leather bag sample development and manufacturing.
- Proven experience in handling or supervising a leather bag sample room.
- Strong practical understanding of leather bag construction, patterns, stitching, finishing, and fittings.
- Experience coordinating with design, merchandising, production, and quality teams.
