A Port Captain is a shore-based maritime skilled who acts as the vital link between a shipping company, vessel masters, and port or terminal authorities. They oversee safe, efficient vessel turnarounds, cargo handling, and regulatory compliance while ships are in port.

Key Responsibilities

- Vessel Operations & Cargo:
- Supervise berthing, loading, discharging, and general harbor maneuvers to minimize port turnaround time.
- Coordinate ship-shore interfaces, anchorages, and terminal operations.
- Monitor vessel readiness, equipment functionality, and proper cargo/catering inventories.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with international and local maritime rules (such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and local port authority guidelines).
- Verify that vessel certificates, safety equipment, and work permits are current and active.
- Lead or assist with incident investigations, safety audits, and emergency response protocols.
- Crew & Personnel Coordination:
- Liaise with Masters, deck officers, and personnel departments regarding crew changes, training, briefs, and evaluations.




- Monitor crew welfare, food provisions, and general well-being.
- Administrative & Budgetary Duties:
- Manage operational and maintenance budgets, cost controls, and vendor/contractor relations.
- Oversee repair schedules, dry-docking, and shipyard or third-party work execution.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education & License: Typically requires a Certificate of Competency as a Master issued by maritime authorities (such as the Directorate General of Shipping in India or US Coast Guard Master License).
- Experience: Generally requires 5+ years of maritime industry experience, including practical sea time as a Master or Chief Officer (often specifically on PSV, AHTS ships, or specialized offshore).
- Core Skills: Deep knowledge of shipping logistics, risk management, local port regulations, and strong leadership/communication skills.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
