Job Summary

TREAT is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Engineer – Estimation to prepare accurate cost estimates and techno-commercial quotations for machine shop and fabrication jobs. The candidate should be able to interpret engineering drawings, calculate material requirements, estimate machining and fabrication costs, and coordinate with internal departments to prepare competitive quotations.

Candidates with experience in machining, fabrication, production engineering, or industrial costing will be preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Study customer enquiries, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Prepare cost estimates for raw materials, machining, fabrication, labour, consumables, and subcontracting.
- Calculate material requirements, cutting allowances, machining allowances, and material wastage.
- Estimate operation-wise cycle times, machine hours, manpower hours, and fabrication time.
- Obtain and compare quotations for materials, tooling, consumables, and subcontracting services.
- Prepare cost sheets, techno-commercial quotations, and estimation reports for management approval.
- Coordinate with Production, Design, Purchase, Quality Control (QC), and Sales teams to validate technical and commercial requirements.
- Evaluate alternative materials, manufacturing methods, and process routes to optimize costs.
- Maintain estimation records, historical costing data, quotation registers, and job cost comparisons.




- Assist in post-order cost analysis by comparing estimated costs with actual production costs.
- Support tender submissions and customer clarification requirements, where applicable.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in estimation, costing, or production engineering.
- Experience in machine shop and fabrication estimation will be preferred.

Required Skills

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of BOM preparation and raw material costing.
- Understanding of machining processes, cycle time, and machine hour estimation.
- Knowledge of fabrication costing, labour costing, and material wastage calculations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and cost sheet preparation.
- Experience in preparing quotations and techno-commercial proposals.
- Good analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
