Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to lead procurement of raw materials, chemicals, packaging, and other production-related items for our operations. The role covers both domestic and import purchasing and is responsible for vendor development, cost optimisation, and making sure materials reach our plants on time, at the right quality and price.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead end-to-end procurement of chemical raw materials, solvents, packaging materials, and consumables in line with production plans.

· Manage both domestic and import procurement, including import documentation, customs clearance coordination, and logistics.

· Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors to build a reliable and cost-competitive supplier base, including alternate sources for critical materials.

· Negotiate prices, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

· Drive cost optimisation through price benchmarking, vendor consolidation, and better purchasing terms.

· Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs house agents (CHAs), and transporters for timely, cost-effective delivery.

· Plan purchases with Production, Stores, QC/QA, and Accounts to maintain optimum inventory and avoid production delays.

· Oversee purchase orders, follow-ups, and vendor performance reviews on quality, delivery, and price.

· Ensure required documents are in place, including invoices, COAs, SDS/MSDS,



and import paperwork such as bills of lading and packing lists.

· Use ERP systems to manage purchasing, inventory levels, and procurement reporting.

· Monitor market trends and raw material price movements and advise management on buying decisions.

· Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and applicable chemical-handling and import regulations.

· Supervise and guide the purchase team, where applicable.

Requirements

· Education: Graduate in any discipline; a qualification in Chemistry, Commerce, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management is preferred. An MBA in Materials or Supply Chain Management is an advantage.

· Experience: 5+ years in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the chemicals, fertiliser, or manufacturing industry.

· Strong skills in vendor development, negotiation, and cost optimisation.

· Experience handling domestic and import procurement, including documentation and logistics coordination.

· Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management.

· Valuable communication and coordination skills.

· Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.

· Based in, or willing to work from, Mumbai or Pune.
